I'll second that. I bought two off Ebay a couple of years at this price. In fact one seller even sent me one for free once.

If you need a sky+ hd remote and have a sub with sky phone them up they will send you one.
#16
so is this not a real sky remote but an own brand?
#17
I got one of these last time it was on offer. Cheap and nasty. No substitute for a proper replacement!
#18
any sky plus/hd remote will control the tv with the right code inputed
#19
If batteries not included they are either recons remotes or other makes all genuine sky units come with batteries.
To control the TV you need to put in the code for the TV
If its a Sky HD remote it can be recoded to use on a Sky+ box
Just done it by buying remote via Ebay for £8 inc P&P delivered within 24 hours so no cold turkey from watching sky TV

these remotes are not well made, bought one few weeks ago from the same retailer but chucked it in the bin. Better paying few £'s more and buying one that work
#21
Cold. These are ****
#22
Thanks for the heads up everyone on the poor quality of these remotes :)

I will be paying the little extra for the genuine sky remote for our magic eye upstairs

If your remote has just stopped working it might be worth while to try re-programming it and re-set it to factory options (has worked for me before). You can try the following:

to reprogram Sky remotes (and reset them to factory defaults which can cure non operating remotes. All remotes have at least 8 different modes (HD have 12). Obviously standard remotes do not have the Sky+ function buttons but recordings can be played from the planner by highlighting and pressing "Select" twice and stopped by pressing "Backup" - no pause, FF, Rewind or Record buttons (but recordings can be set from pressing "record" on the box.

For most remotes Version 4 and later (white label inside battery cover)
1 Press "TV"
2 Press and hold "Select" and "Yellow" together until red led in remote end flashes twice (On HD remotes "Select" and "i" together) - if it doesn't flash twice then remote cannot be reprogrammed (clone or too old)
3 Press "0" to operate standard box, "1" for Sky+ and on HD remotes "2" for HD - remotes in Sky+ mode will normally control HD boxes as well
4 Press "Select" - red led should flash twice
5 Press "Sky" and away you go

Any remote in Sky+ mode will also operate HD boxes BUT this can be stopped in some remote and box combinations in the following way (it certainly works on Amstrad DRX890 boxes but NOT Thomson HD boxes)
1 Press "TV"
2 Press and hold "Select" and "Blue" together until red led in remote end flashes twice - if it doesn't flash twice then remote cannot be reprogrammed (clone or too old)
3 Press "1"- There are 4 different modes here 0, 1, 2, 3
4 Press "Select" - red led should flash twice
5 Press "Sky" and away you go

In above to return remote to operating both in step 3 press "0"

For early standard remotes prior to version 4 (or no version number on label) at stage 2 press "Select" and "Blue" together AND at stage 3 press "2" to control Sky+ or HD boxes - (to return remote to operating standard boxes press "0" at this stage).

Hope this might help.

Don't buy this remote, its awful. Not original Sky, and poorly built and nothing like the original. I never used mine because I so disappointed with it. Go and buy the genuine Sky branded one.
#25
if your box is still in warrenty or you have insurance a new replacement one is free!
#26
Don't understand why these are 500+ degrees when they haven't had anything other than pants feedback. ?
#27
I too bought one of these for £4.99 before Christmas. I returned for a full refund. I could not get it to operate any sky box. Ended up buying one for a few quid in Sainsburys, didn't look as nice but build quality was much better.

On the plus side. 7dayshop customer service were good and promptly refunded.

Bought an original open box one off eBay for £7.99 Inc delivery. Had a 'universal' one like this before, junk. Voted cold
#29
Sorry, but it should state "non-official" in the title, as it's misleading.

Anyone got a link to a good place to buy the official one from?
