Just seen this deal at Argos, half price on the remote, one month subscription to sky player with Sky Sports, 3 months xbox live Gold membership.....

Think Xbox live Gold is about £5 per month on its own so basically trial on sky player and free remote i guess....

£34/month afterwards?! And they still make you watch adverts.
#3
Skyplayer just upped my £5 per month to £10 after 3months! :(
#4
think my idea in puttin it on wasnt to try and say Sky was good value, but to show its not a bad deal to pay for your 3 months xbox membership and get a free remote - I know sky are extortionists, I have HD!
#5
I just buy one of these, sell on xbox live for £10 and have sky sports for £5 a month.
#6

so you dont get charged for the second month, when is it best to cancel this when you register or like a day before or something?
#10
You cancel on the day you sign up. It allows the sub to run to the end of the paid month (which will be paid for by the subscription card).

Same price in game and gamestation
#12
I bought one of these packs and cancelled the day I signed up. I have heard on this site that you will still be charged for the second month. Can anyone confirm or reject this?? Has anyone had one for more that a month?? Thanks for your help.

Nice find

Anybody got one of these remotes already? im trying to sync it to my LG tv so i can use it to turn up/down the volume without using the tv remote, has anybody done this ? :?
#14
Are these remotes good for anythign else once you cancel the Sky deal?

Sounds like a rubbish deal once your 3 months are up! Not a bad trial price though.
#15
Use the remote for DVDs or video files from USB drive after, works like a charm. Also has a button for controlling your Windows media Centre if you have one.
#16
Beware I wasnt impressed with the long awaited Sky Sports on my Xbox the picture quality is well below par for me and also think personally Sky is a rip off so not for me

Ah, sounds about the same as the one I paid £5 for a couple of years ago. Find the wireless controller I already have to hand works just as good/better than fetching the IR remote..

i was worried but i dont think you do.i was told on here you dont.

what was worrying me was this post from the game websight

"

im affraid to say that you do get charged once you redeem your code, to get your free one month you have to enter your debit or credit card details, then you choose a package that suits you. if you leave it as its stands you pay £34.50 which is debited as soon as your registration is complete, if you remove the sports packages you will pay £14.99. So yes you get your free month then you go into the next month that you have already paid for. Then during this month (the 2nd month) they will debit you again unless you have cancelled. Its just a catch to get you to sign up,why else would they give you a month for free."

but it seems like he removed the sky sports which messed about with it.

Sky have just announced to there regular customers that they are changing there terms when it comes to downgrading packages it may be worth checking there website before committing

That's the same post that I was refering to!! I guess I'll find out when my month expires!!!
#24
If I bought 2 of these, would I then get 2 months worth of Sky Player subscription, or can only one voucher code be used for new joiners?

Well being my account says I will be charged £0.00 on the 6th of March (I signed up on 6th Feb), I would be surprised if they charged me anything LOL - it does also SPECIFICALLY say "Note that if you remove packs that are part of this offer, then the offer may no longer apply."

If you bought two, you'd simply need to create a new sky player account the next month. Even existing sky customer have to create a new account to use the code.

good if u use your xbox to watch dvds !
#28
I personally don't bother watching on the xbox - I just watch thro my laptop as I browse as it allows 1 xbox install and 4 pc's for the skyplayer sub
#29
OK guys, how do u cancel? is it done using the xbox remote or u ring them up straight after register free 1 month sky?
#30
As an existing Sky subscriber I didn't need to use the code (gave it to a mate) and get all the available channels (I have the full package on Sky). Handy for the 3 month Xbox Live subscription and the remote is handy.

was just about to ask this,i was briefly looking through this link http://skyplayer.sky.com/watch/sky-player-voucher/?DCMP=PAC-XBOXretcd_CG

click on the terms and conditions i found this

8.3 You can cancel your subscription to the Live TV Service in accordance with this contract in the 'Accounts & Settings' section of the Sky Player Website. You will have access to the Service for the remainder of the subscription period you have already paid for, but your subscription will not automatically be renewed.

think thats how you do it
#32
Just so this is clear to anybody signing up for this offer ...

You are only signing up to Sky Player and will need a very good uncapped broadband service if you want to make the best of this offer ... can somebody confirm this is the case??

Its done on their website. In fact, most of the sign up is done on a pc/laptop rather than xbox.

I have a 10mb line, picture is smooth as you like.

i would say so,its says 2mb min,and i would say an isp that throttles the connection at certain times may prove a problem to watch at them times.

e.g im on o2 LLU upto 20mb i find it is fine, but the o2 access 'may' find it a problem

Dont hold me to that though,im only adding a bit of info

Lots of ignorance and straight up BS in this thread.

1. They don't charge you until 1 month after you sign up, and then only if you haven't cancelled before that date.

2. It clearly states the day you will be first billed

3. You can cancel online on the website and the same day as signing up no problem.

4. You will have a very crap viewing experiences during times of capping from your ISP - crikey what would you expect.

5. You're better off just taking the 2 for £25 offer from Play.com anyway.

Yes it does this. It can control quite a lot of functions in TVs, all you have to do is find the code for your tele. The list is on the official xbox.com site.
