I wonder how many key sporting events/matches will start having coverage on the Sky Sports 3&4 when this rolls out ????
#2
Isnt it like £25 for all sky sports channels on sky?
#3
Just heard that in response to this Sky are going to increase their prices so that they can charge BT more so not sure how long this offer will last.

I did wonder that before posting.

This is good for me as I can't get satelite (huge trees SE from my house) and I don't live in a cabled area. 2 years is a long time but if you like vision and already use it then I think its a good deal.

The forums are good for more info

Nope sky will be decreasing prices as ofcom forced them to.

If Sky do respond to this by bringing their prices down, then this can only be good for the Sky punters.

let the battle commence. Good old OFCOM!!!!

Nope, it's £35, at the moment, rising to £38 from September when Sky's price rises go through.

Seems like a Hot Deal to me, just seems to be the usual initial 'cold votes'.

Incorrect. This follows a 3 year review and ruling by Ofcom in March which forced Sky to reduce the wholesale costs of selling its Sports channels.

But you can't buy that on it's own! You need to add that onto Sky's minimum package which is (currently) £17 a month, making the cheapest Sky Sports deal being £35 a month (or £38 from September).

Yeah, OFCOM instead fixed the wholesale price as a fixed percentage of the 'retail' price. So Sky put the price up of the retail package, thereby pushing the Wholesale price up above what it was before OFCOM made their adjudication. Sky are taking the **** out of OFCOM .
#15
Hmmmm ....... interesting to see how things turn out here.
BT got clobbered because it was the biggest telecoms provider and Sky (amongst many others) moved in on home phones .... :whistling:

Now OFCOM are forcing regulation on Sky because their the biggest pay-to-view provider .... and BT are moving in on Sky territory. :-D

Gearing up for a great battle once everyone has decent internet bandwidth and IPTV gives satellite a run for it's money
#16
Agreed, BT had to split into group businesses, Wholesale to provide the network to any service provider and Openreach to maintain the network. BT Retail are now just another service provider along with the rest who use Wholesale & Openreach.
So, about time that Sky have had to make some of their services available as a Wholesale product as well.

Looks a good deal to me.

Thankyou for the confirmation I knew I had heard this but was beginning to doubt ater other posts on here !

So does this mean BT will be making a loss on this? If prices go up for Retail and Wholesale and IF BT keep the prices the same then this will be a good deal.

subscribed & repped as i must change my damn package. Paying an absolute fortune for Sky, Internet & phone seperate

Quidco cashback?

I'm not sure this is such a good deal. The minimum package (on just the BT Vision subs) is £26.98 for just Sky Sports 1. This does not yet include the cost of the BT Vision box, BT Broadband which I hear is compulsoty too and any other set up fees. Equivalent package with Sky is £36 and you get a free HD box too and bigger selection of channels.

Am I missing something?

Yes

Sky Sports 1 & 2 available @ £11.99 for both to the following customers or £6.99 for either Sky Sports 1 & 2

All new customers to BT signing up to a 24 month contract for a BT Package.

BB & Calls - £17.99 for BB Option 2, weekend calls and Standard BT Vision with no on demand package. (£60 charge for Vision Box applies)

This basically takes out the "other" TV element. EG you only pay for Sky Sports. This is the first time SKy Sports has ever been available without any other mandatory TV subscription.

So for £12.79 plus £17.99 plus £11.99 you can get line rental, weekend calls, up to 20Mbps BB with 40GB usage and free wireless hub, Vision with Freeview and Sky sports. £40 for a triple pack including sky sports is unheard of anywhere. Also this package can be used with free connection (saving £127.99) for customers requiring an engineer to activate their new line.

Can also get Sky Sports 1 & 2 for £11.99 when taking a package at £32.99 which also includes BT Vision Bronze pack which would add in 4 on demand viewing packs plus ESPN.

Or final package @ £48.99 which upgrades to unlimited BB and anytime calls and 6 on demand viewing packs.

Similar offers are available to existing customers but it very much depends on your current package and contract situation however almost every customer will be eligible for Sky Sports 1 & 2 for £16.99 with just a 12 month contract.

Still not chap enough. Sky is nearly £50 for phone including line rental, unlimited calls, broadband if in an enabled area and and you'll get all the sports channels so when they start shifting the sports onto sky sports 3 and 4 you'll be able to watch!

Just ordered :

Line rental saver - £9.49 ( payable annually at £113.88 )
Tv + Broadband (40GB) + calls bundle - £17.99
Added Anytime calls - £4.99
Sports max - £11.99 ( sky sports 1 + 2, ESPN and vision sport )

Total per month = £44.46

One off cost required of £64.99 for Vision+ box and postage for hub.

Quidco tracked at £65

Benefits also include :

Free Mcafee anti virus suite for 7 computers.
Free 5Gb online storage.
Unlimited wi-fi with Bt openzone and Bt Fon

Hope this helps someone,

captainm
