Yes, unless I am very much mistaken, you can just call Sky and tell them you want a replacement and they will send you one for free (just threaten to leave if they offer any resistance) so why pay even £5.99 for a cheapo from 7dayshop?

What about the people who don't have an active subscription?

Then what use is the remote? You can't use a sky box without an active subscription, even to view recorded programs on a sky+ box, can you? And if you just want an ordinary cheap programmable remote, pop into Poundland and pick up a Signalex, no need to pay £5.99.

Yes, you are very much mistaken, a remote will only be replaced free of charge if it is within the 12 month warranty. You would be very much something else to threaten to leave over a remote contol :p

Clearly I'm 'something else' then, as I would very definitely threaten to leave Sky if I continued to be charged a substantial sum of money every month for a service I couldn't properly use because I didn't have a functioning remote. And why the hell should I pay Sky (a multi-billion pound company) or anyone else extra to enable me to access a service I am already paying a lot of money for every month? Similarly, if the sky box itself broke, I would demand a free replacement no matter how old it was, the remote is no different, IMO.

You are clearly 'something else' indeed, passionate, although that's not what I was implying originally :p You make a fair point about the remote and I too would seek a free replacement box but for the less passionate of us this is still a very good deal.

Got a genuine Sky HD remote one off ebay for £9.5 delivered. That's better than this imo as the material/quality is alot higher and it was definitely genuine.

Sure it'd cost 6 quid in call charges before you'd get through to those pricks.

is this an original as per the picture? The product page isn't very clear if it is a copy or not
#21
The volume control doesn't work on my original + just over 1 year old (so no new one from sky) :-(
#22
most people buy these due to the original remotes locking up, i.e. seem as if they do not work anymore. take out the batteries, press and hold the 'Select' button for 30 seconds, put the batteries back in... this worked on 2 remotes for me.
#23
Ordered one of these last time and it didnt work at all..

What are you talking about? Of course you can use the sky box without an active subscription. It works like a freeview box, albeit with different set of "free channels". The sky free channels are better in my opinion and I only use my freeview for Dave.
