Incredibly cheap, as this is the s2 type... Don't forget quidco, so it costs only £29 for a hdspa phone....These phones can also be unlocked for about a tenner.

It's the evolution of the 3 Skypephone. Get more features, more applications and even more ways to stay in contact in a compact and stylish candybar design.

Why not pause to take a snap with your 3.2 Megapixel camera and upload your pics to your photo blog?

The 3 Skypephone S2 can also double up as a USB Modem. With pre-loaded HSDPA 3.6 modem drivers, you can just plug your 3 Skypephone S2 into your laptop and get online straight away.

Jam packed with features, super stylish and easy to use. What more could you want

Ive had one of these on PAYG as a second phone for a few months and although the voice clarity on skype cant match a normal mobile, its saved me a fortune on calls to my girlfriend who does a lot of travelling in the UK and abroad. We got these when they 2 for £100 at Xmas so £40 each is a really good deal.

I'll just clarify that I hate 3 mobile's customer service though. You need to be prepared to put up with it if you're going to get one of these!!!

I must say that a lot of the cs from other companies too are appaling...But at the moment 3 at least for me are the cheapest.....Plus skype is absolutely free and who doesn't love that?
#3
Its a good deal, as the S2 ones are still selling for around £50 (or more) on fleabay for 'new' ones, I recently sold a well used S1 model for £40.
Quidco cashback just makes this an even better deal, hot deal for long distance Walkie Talkies

heat added....bargain

Yeah very good when you consider that you never have to top these up and can use skype forever for free.

Although I also loathe 3.

seems nice

nice..

Vouchers not working.

Not a bad deal, though if you're a bit more tech savvy I'd recommend looking for the likes of an HTC Hermes (aka SPV M3110 and many others), which can be picked up for around £50 second hand - making it an unbeatable HSDPA handset for the price.
#10
How long does the Battery last if you run Skype on it 24/7?

ages. its one of the best phones i have had and skype is really clear when i seem to use it to.

The INQ1 is technically the Skypehone 3, I heavily recommend it.
#13
so you can buy the phone, never top it up, and use skype to phone anyone in the world for free?

I have had one of the S2's for 9 months, it's a really great phone - build quality, battery life, apps - the PC Suite is especially very good and you can use as MP3 player, I have a 2GB Micro SD Card installed, plus as outlined/mentioned HSDPA too - H O T!
#15
wow this sounds like a really good deal one not to be missed so voted hot from me

Whats the situation with skype app on the HTC's? Can the front speaker be used now or is it still limited to coming out the main speaker so everyone can hear the conversation (or trying to use a blue tooth headset which is supposed to be hit and miss)

I've been tempted to try it on my tytn ii but the feedback on the net i've found portray's it as a bit ropey on some models.

So you dont need to be near a wifi or internet connection to use this????Im off to Egypt in september and thought of one for me and one for the parents....

I have an inq1, with skype on but not touch the phone at all, battery lasts like 4days+ to power down itself. For normal use(3hrs a day) it lasts about 2 days to start warning sounds.
Battery on inq1 is a 1150mAh one
Hope this helps.

On inq1 skype and msn are entirely free. Downloads from planet 3 are also free (ie. upgrading skype/msn/mail softwares), but anything else is payable, even the weather widget, cost like 15p a day, it shouldnt be available to S1 but im trying to say any usage other than the two softwares+ 3 homepage is chargable.

also worth pointing out that you can't use one of these phones abroad (the blurb seems unclear) BUT you can connect to a skype connected VOIP phone/pc (with skype client) abroad for free, thanks
#24
Please can any one explain, if I take this mobile abroad and if some 1 from UK call me or if I call them from abroad, then do I or person calling me have to pay any charges?

Thanks.

I work abroad and thought this would be great for me to ring the kids while im away? also if we go to florida as a family I thought we could take 2 with us and use them like walkie talkie? I was understanding that you could make any calls to any to skype phones anywhere in the world and it would be totally free??? can someone help please? thanks

These handsets use customised software where the call goes over the 3 cellular network as a voice call before being converted to data and sent through the internet. There are some handsets which can use the standard skype software (see skype website) which will send the call as data straight from the handset. These would need to be used at wifi hotspots otherwise you may have to pay data charges (and if you roam internationally, would be very expensive)

You can use:
a skype supported handset and use this at wifi hotspots
a usb handset plugged into your laptop for making skype calls
get local sims for your family trips

skype calls, in themselves, are free but you have to be aware how the calls are carried over the internet.

If you have family overseas there might be a way to make cheap calls to them using this handset, skype and another VOIP service

You would need to get the local calls package for your skype account for the UK where you can call lanlines for free for as long as you want.
Then you would need an account with www.voipdiscount.com which costs 12 euros every 120 days. It gives you 5 hours a week of talk time to a lot of countries. My missus calls her family in Thailand and friends in Korea fo r5 hours a week for free (Korea landlines Thailand mobiles)

VOIP discount also has a local call number so that you can call through from a standard phone. Not sure if you have to register a number with them though, this is where it might fall down as an idea.

Call the local dial number for VOIP discount via skype, then put in the number you want to call.

No idea if this works. Not seen the skype software yet on these phones or what th elimitations are of the VOIPdiscount local call number
