Anyone used one of these rice cookers?? Are they any good??

I never manage to get rice to come our right, usually ends up stodgy....
£4.94 for delivery and £5.95 delivery to a local store for pickup

Orders over £25 are free but both these items are under this so £12 for this or the slow cooker, needs to be put in title!

my mum has one that i have stolen for dinner parties and yes they are great make nice fluffy rice
They make excellent rice Cadge - most of my friends of various ethnicities have one at their folks house! It's considered a bit of a cheat - and can burn on the bottom if you're not too careful.

Worth a go at this price.

ps - if it's coming out stodgy - rinse it first in a sieve or something. only add about an inch and a bit of water above it - when it starts to boil turn it down to a simmer and let it do its thing for 20 mins.
Do not keep stiring it. Leave it.
cadge you need to practice.
rinse your rice in cold water a few times till mots of the cloudiness goes after swilling it in the pan. Thats he starch.

I would not let it go for 20 minutes thats almost certin to be overcooked imo.

You can test it and know when its done or when its overdone. It just looks satturated. trial and error on your cooker. Id say start testing after ten minutes on simmer.
Could never get rice till we bought one of these for a tenner from great rice everytime..

Great gadget for this price..

I bought one of these last year from asda, and they were only 7 quid then and they are still 7 quid! you only ever see the damn things at winter lol, that is when I bought mine, it is really good! did a nice lamb casserole in it yesterday actually!:p
Is this online only or could I get one from instore without having to spend £25 online?
Both were instore at this price in Oldbury Asda yesterday! was gonna post but got beaten to it lol!

Given the delivery charges for a single unit and the uncertainty of the specification, some might prefer the Cookworks 3.5L unit still collectable from Argos for £9.99:
Got one of the slow cookers at the Park Royal (London) store yesterday. I could see more than 10 there, but you had to look for them, as they're not with the other pots, pans etc. Now winter's not far away, this will definitely come in handy - I love bulk cooking stews, curries etc.
Thanks, finally got hold of 1 today
Brought one today in my local store, looks very nice for the price
just cooking with it now =)

Is this a slow cooker or a rice cooker?
Looks almost identical:

If it's a slow cooker, can you cook rice in it?!
