The mult-oscar winning film Slumdog Millionaire on DVD for a very reasonable £8.98 from Amazon!

some info from IMDB:

The story of Jamal Malik, an 18 year-old orphan from the slums of Mumbai, who is about to experience the biggest day of his life. With the whole nation watching, he is just one question away from winning a staggering 20 million rupees on India's "Who Wants To Be A Millionaire?" But when the show breaks for the night, police arrest him on suspicion of cheating; how could a street kid know so much? Desperate to prove his innocence, Jamal tells the story of his life in the slum where he and his brother grew up, of their adventures together on the road, of vicious encounters with local gangs, and of Latika, the girl he loved and lost. Each chapter of his story reveals the key to the answer to one of the game show's questions. Each chapter of Jamal's increasingly layered story reveals where he learned the answers to the show's seemingly impossible quizzes. But one question remains a mystery: what is this young man with no apparent desire for riches really doing on the game show? When the new day dawns and Jamal returns to answer the final question, the Inspector and sixty million viewers are about to find out. At the heart of its storytelling lies the question of how anyone comes to know the things they know about life and love.

Althogh the title of the film is a pretty huge spoiler as to the ending :-D

Good price for a new DVD, although personally I didn't think the film was up to much.
#6
Good price for an awful movie?
#7
Great film!!! Well worth the money.

Millarcat - I was exactly the same, with the hype and my natural disliking for most movies I couldn't quite believe how good this really was.
#9

wait is that picture at the top the dvd cover

lol that is rediculous you'd imagine they would spend some of the billions they made on a decent cover!!

im sure many places will have prices similiar, tesco have theirs at £9 because they have a TV advert which is how i found out cba to save 2p despite the credit crunch!

I laughed at the DVD trailer on the telly and how it edited together all the brief moments of dancing and happiness to make it look like a Mama Mia style feelgood movie. I hope everyone who has yet to see the movie is aware it is about a kid from the slum having everyone around him being killed, him getting tortured and other nasty things.

Overrated film, ok story but pile of **** acting. "LATTTTIIKKKKKAAAAAAA!!!!"

"Welcome back to WHO WANTS TO BE A MILONNAIRE!"

Dear Mr. Offer Maker, we'll buy this in Bluray for £6.95. With the credit crunch and the subsequent discovey that Britons had lived beyond their means by a £1,000,000,000,000 (by borrowing too much money to pay for rip off Britain prices, hence the govvernment bail out and impact on tax): the current benchmark of affordable pricing for Bluray is less than £10 and DVD less than £5. Days for £15 and £20 are gone for ever.

A great film nevertheless, very unusual as most blockbuster films are shoot and bash them up with little dialogue.

Thanks for the moral and political lesson - the benchmark price for a DVD movie may well be around £5 these days but it certainly isn't at the moment for a brand new release of a hugely successful, critically acclaimed and highly anticipated movie.
