Tesco have 25% off wine when you buy 6 or more bottles (including the little ones) and also have 4 for £5 on the 18.7cl bottles but they take off the 25% for 6 or more bottles before the 4 for £5 discount, so you can get 8 small bottles for around £5.30, it's actually cheaper to get more expensive ones as they take more off. You need to buy 8, 12, 16 etc...

This worked instore this morning, I haven't tried it online as the wine discount doesn't show, I know just before Christmas the same deal worked the same way online.

not online
- ballogie

and it doesn't work for the Tesco Finest varieties as they are not in the £5 for 4 offer

So I assume you need to buy 8 bottles to get both discounts to trigger for all of them?
#2
how does this deal work please help???
#3
Small bottles of wine are 4 for £5, regardless of cost. It seems they have another 25% off if buying 6 or more bottles deal (can't see it online though), meaning if you buy 8 bottles for a tenner they knock £2.50 off. However they apply the deals in the wrong order, they calculate both before either is applied, meaning they take 25% off the full price then still reduce by the normal amount as if you'd got 4 for a fiver.

I just added 8 bottles at £2.29, comes in at £18.32
The 4 for £5 deal means I get £8.32 off
The 25% off deal means I get £4.58 off (as its 25% off the initial cost)
Therefore I get 12.90 off, meaning I pay just £5.42 for 8 bottles.

How do you get it to work online
#5
Dunno, didn't see any mention of 25% off online. Good deal if it works, not so good if it doesnt!

If this deal is back on instore, this could get very very hot. I bought about 120 small bottles in total last time from various Tesco's

Did you buy your 8 bottle in store??

Sorry I was on my mobile with small children, yes you need to buy multiples of 4 but a minimum of 6 so 8, 12, 16 etc. I don't know if it works online, it definitely works instore, I got 8 bottles for about £5.50 but think if I'd picked up all the £2.49 original price ones it would have been slightly cheaper. Out of interest - why so cold? Can you get them cheaper?
#11
is it any 8 small bottles of wine or specific?

Think I might have to take a trip down to Tescos soon.

Hello, my name is PurplePerson and HDUK is going to make me an alcoholic. :-D
#13
It's any of the small bottles which are on the "4 for £5" deal, but buy the originally pricier ones to get the cheapest price.
#14
Actual scenario......just been.
Bought 8 bottles at a total of £17.42
Wines 4 for £5 discount -£4.16
Wines for £4 discount -£4.36
Total saving £8.52
To pay £8.90

Hope this helps.

3 @ 2.49

25% wine discount: 4.73
4 for £5 discount: 8.92

Total to pay: 5.27

Did you buy your 8 bottle in store??

That was just an example, however I have just been in and can confirm it works.

2x 1.99
6 x 2.29
- 7.72 (4 for a fiver)
- 4.43 (25% off)

Cost = £5.57

My total bill before discount was £18.38, after discount £6.23 but I got an 8 pack of crisps for 66p as well. This is a seriously hot deal!
#17
No worries fairy I can only assume I picked 8 that aren't classed as fine wines.
#18
Lol., I will take that as an undue compliment to my blossom hill rose style tastes :)
#19
Nice one. Can't for the life of me understand how I ended up at £8.90?
For some reason it knocked off £1.10 off my 8 for £10 a mystery?
#20
Go back and demand double the difference!
#21
LOL I would if I could understand how they'd come up with £8.90.
#22
Love this deal....stocked up last time. Just bought 72 bottles on the 4 for £5 for a total of £48.78 (68 pence per bottle)

#25
Hot hot hoth! Sorry slurring a bit there...
#26
got 12 bottles of jacobs creek for £8.13.
12 x 2.29 =27.48 wines for £5 discount -£12.48 25% discount -£6.87
cheers for posting :)
#27
i am confused as to why this isnt hotter? if you posted 3 bottles of wine for £8odds no doubt it would be huge!!!!!
#28
Same here, this is a great deal!
#29
Maybe I didn't advertise it well? I thought it was a good deal anyway!
#30
Worked for me today! Hot & thanks OP.
#31
This has happened before.
I bought 80 bottles of JC, the women at the till thought I was a retard!

smoking hot! I just came to post the same deal! :D
#33
Maybe you would have done a better job PenPink, mine doesn't appear to be doing so well!
#34
It's been bugging me for ages that last time I'm sure there was another deal it worked with and I've remembered it was the £10 off for a first online order (which actually everything probably combines with) if that helps anyone.
#35
I explained how the deal worked to the till lady, she wrote anote to remind herself to stock up after work!

I'm amazed at how poorly this deal has been voted, if you buy the £2.49 bottles you are getting 75% off FFS! You get a full bottle for the price of the small one, its a steal!
#36
60 bottles of £2.29 wine (2 were actually £2.49)

Total £137.80
Wines 4 for £5 discount £34.45
Wine Discount (25%) £62.80

Total to pay £40.55

Price for bottle wee 67.58p (3 make a full bottle), so £2.03 a bottle equiv + the convenience

The assistants face was priceless, especially when I gave her a £6 off £30 spend for Sainsburys ... che ching.

Quite the opposite I'd say!

My assistant was GOB Fookin smacked when £137 became £40. LOL
#38
Oh I think this is a better deal than before X-mas as they have put the prices up!

As you say, the dearer the bottle the BIGGER the discount! The red Jacobs Creek are £2.49 but my store only had 2 of them.
#39
I was trying to stock up on the £2.49 ones too, cheap enough to stick in lasagne at this price (although a shame not to have the excuse to finish the rest of a big bottle).
#40
Sorry guys but isn't it 4 small bottles to make up 1 normal size bottle not 3? (18.7 x 4 = 74.8)

Still a great deal though!!
