I'm guessing this is probably something to do with quickoffice being owned by google now, anticipating competition. Heat added.

Just installed this free one this morning after reading some good recommendations:

https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=cn.wps.moffice_eng&feature=search_result#?t=W251bGwsMSwxLDEsImNuLndwcy5tb2ZmaWNlX2VuZyJd

Ain't tried it yet though.

This was free on GetJar. Not sure if it still is. Can't go wrong for 50p though!

Kingsoft Office is pretty good: opens passworded docs (if you know the password, of course) and has a useful ribbon UI

Is there any advantage to this over Polaris Office (came free on Galaxy Tab)?

Thanks for the link, belch. Smartoffice wasn't compatible with my Galaxy Europa but Kingsoft is. :)

I got this from Getjar too and also have Kingsoft installed - for me it's worth having both installed because neither is perfect although they're both decent apps - but for some things one of them works better, and for others it's the other one. 50p is a good price for this if you don't want to go via Getjar (and not sure it's still available that way in any case).

The only problem I have with Getjar apps is that it cannot be updated!

Under 'file types' it says it handles all Word formats since 1997. Does that literally just mean .doc and .docx, or does it include other types Word does? I need a good .rtf editor for droid.

Heat added, bargain.

Incidentally, there is a version of this App for free on getjar, but for some reason it wont work on a Galaxy Note. The one from Google Play does.
