I have one of these and they are very very bright, Highly recommended, batteries last for ages.

Excellent price, they normally run for about £9-£12.

+1 fantastic little super bright light at a ridiculously low price.

Buy two - you won't regret it (IMHO).

i'm new to cycling so need help!

can you use this as your only rear light? i know there are some rules but dont really understand them!

also can anyone recommend me a front light as good? i'd prefer windup or something like this where i can use rechargable batteries

thanks!

The laws about not being able to use flashing lights was changed a few years ago, they're now fine to use as long as they flash at a certain speed, which I believe this one does.

Yep - this is fine as your only rear light (but only since around 2005) - see amendment 6 of http://www.opsi.gov.uk/si/si2005/20052559.htm (or search for the word flash on the page).

I use a cateye el-520 (the newer model is el-530). Its pretty good, and I use rechargable batteries in them. I cycle to and from work every day and the light lasts around a month or two of me using it every night for about 15 mins. Hope that helps!

Deal extreme for lights and mounts. Fraction of the price of 'real' bike lights. These are modded Q5s each of the lights is about 200 lumen so it's pretty bright. They Run for about 3 hours.

There's some good P7s now though - a bit more expensive but will throw out 600-900 lumens each!!!!

here's a pretty crappy photo but you get the idea -

Paolo - Nice bike!! Had a look on dealextreme and they have rear lights for $3.27! Isnt that a better deal than this thread?

http://www.dealextreme.com/details.dx/sku.2975

Also, any problems with buying from them?

These ones are form here -

http://www.shiningbeam.com/servlet/the-53/Romisen-RC-dsh-N3-CREE-Q5/Detail

Got them ages ago so would go for a P7 or similar these days.

I only got them as they are slightly brighter than the normal Romisen Q5 (pre P7 days). Similar ones can be had for a tenner from dealextreme.

I'll have a look later.

If you want something SUPER bright you're looking at £20-30. Nothing will touch this other than going down the HID route - then you're looking at £100s

Have a look for P7s on DX or maybe a CREE MC-E
