Got one of these for Christmas last year - they are fantastic for work.

Excellent things I've put on here before at similar prices. Good to put on as lots of people haven't heard of them, and an easy way to have a nice real coffee without needing a machine or separate cafetiere.

Robert Dyas have done these for a fiver before but £6.99 atm :)

I found a few of these in TK Maxx for £3 but the plunger looked very loose fitting until it reached the bottom of the cup. Do you find you get a mouthful of grounds with every cup?

May be worth having a look at the item on Amazon as there are some product reviews. I hope this helps.

only if you overfill the cup, keep to the level or just below and it is fine :)

I had one of these for a bit. Stopped using it pretty quickly, because I wasn't at all impressed.

It doesn't seal the coffee grounds off fully (the mesh allows water to circulate, albeit slowly), so your coffee continues to slowly stew, even once you've pushed the plunger down. It's very plasticky and - as a result - unpleasant to drink from. And - from what I recall - it was fiddly and messy to use.

If it's a travel mug you want, get a thermos travel mug with a lid. If you want a mini-cafetiere, buy a little glass one of those instead. It'll make better coffee...

Edited to add: also, I bought mine from Amazon for £4.86 in March 2009.

I just received my graphite colour one that I ordered from Amazon a few days ago, it was £4.96, not sure if that colour option still available for that price.

ps..coffee stayed hot for quite a while and I didn't get any stray coffee grains.

I've been using mine for a few months now and I'm really impressed. It makes really good coffee (as long as you buy nice coffee!). I've had no problems with the granules leaking or too strong coffee etc.

I'm also saving a fortune at work where they charge £1.50 per cup in the canteen.

Recommended.

Total garbage! used to have the exact same cup, and it ended up binned. There is no substitute for drinking coffee out of a ceramic cup. It's similar to drinking coke from a glass bottle, and then drinking from a plastic bottle - there is still that plastic taste. Best avoid this cup, unless you're happy enough to drink plastic flavoured coffee.

My cup arrived today and i must say how impressed i am! I wasnt expecting something so well made. The plunger works really smoothly and is well integrated into the cup when its inserted. I havnt got any coffee bits in my drink at all. I will deffo get another one, LOVE IT <3

BUT i have to admit to my first attempt ending up with coffee all over the kitchen. I didnt hold the cup when i pushed the plunger down so the cup skidded across the table............I have just finished cleaning my kitchen lol.I did it correctly the second time. X)

I'll keep an eye out. I would add one to your basket / wish list on Amazon and each time you sign in, if the price has changed, you will see a message at the top of the screen when you are signed in to your account. I've just had a quick look online and Robert Dyas have them @ £7.13 but postage is £ 5.25 !! http://www.robertdyas.co.uk/P~135289~Smart+Cafe+Cafetiere+Hot+Mug
