Not sure if this will help anyone else on here..
But I have just opened a Smilemore Bank Account

and now get for £13.00 / month the following...

I save money on my travel insurance and breakdown insurance ..

I have rung up to check and I am covered on the travel insurance on the motorbike when travelling abroad
The breakdown insurance covers one nominated vehicle ( which doesn't need to be nominated until you breakdown )
Mobile phone insurance ...
---------------------

smilemore current account has been acknowledged as 'the number one packaged account' by Money Mail, June 2009.

worldwide family travel insurance,
mobile phone insurance,
UK European motor breakdown assistance
an automatic £500 fee-free overdraft
(the first £260 is interest free), and lots of other great benefits.
All this for just £13 a month (fee debited on the first working day of each month).

Ah well at least I have shared .....

So, for £156 you get:

# 0.12% AER* interest paid on your entire credit balance

Not a lot! If you've got money that's worth getting interest on it shouldn't be in a current account.

# worldwide family travel insurance provided by AXA Travel Insurance

You can get worldwide family cover for well known companies for £50.

# mobile phone insurance provided by Lifestyle Services Group Limited and insured by London General Insurance Company Limited

mobile phone insurance through Insure2Go underwritten by Lloyds is £4.49 per month so £54 per year

# UK and European motor breakdown assistance provided by AXA Assistance

Plenty of ways to get cheap breakdown insurance.

http://www.moneysavingexpert.com/insurance/roadside-recovery

# an automatic £500 fee-free overdraft, the first £260 of which is interest free

Don't go overdrawn

# exclusive no application fee 3yr Tracker mortgage - plus for remortgage cases, no standard legal fees or basic valuation fees when you use our recommended surveyors or solicitors

Only any good if Smile offer one of the lowest interest rates on a 3yr Tracker mortgage!

# 20% discount on entry to over 200 fantastic leisure attractions across the UK, with your smilemore smartsave discount card.

You can probably her all these deals from HUKD, MSE or elsewhere online.

# 20% off home insurance through The Co-operative Insurance

Only good if the co-operative are the cheapest quote!

That probably explains the cold votes.

I think the other issue here is that pretty much all banks have one of these 'premium' current accounts, and they all charge pretty much the same for the same benefits...

Is this for a single phone - smile is for up to 4 phones
Breakdown £37

so you're up to £141 already for 3 items...

Don't go overdrawn
Have you ever????? and paid thru the nose for it...

You could get a free travel insurance for Europe by having a free Alliance and Leicester Current account. Additionally go through Quidco and you are rewarded by £150, just to open the account. This account also comes with feefree overdraft for first one year. A oneoff fixed date worldwide insurance and Rest of the frebies can be bought cheaper on the net. Sorry cold from me...

Now show me what's left that's worth £52....

Do people actually bother with mobile phone insurance? I only insure thing that I need to for legal reasons (car) or those that I can't afford to cover (car, house, travel claims)...

I agree, but how many people look into them....

I think most banks are going to charge soon for banking... the days of free banking will soon be over Linky and Linky

My last post on the subject ....as I say it was just a heads up , if you don't like don't bother with it ...works well for me though...

Perhaps the RBS who we now own can make a justification ...if they are not too busy filling their seat allocation at Wimbledon

I'm sorry, but there is NOT £933 per year of savings there...You need to consider the inflated costs which certainly aren't good deals:

Travel Insurance - completely overpriced - try £50 not £160!
Mobile phone - £50 not £119
Travel money home delivery - free with better rates elsewhere!
House Insurance - likely to be more than 10% cheaper elsewere
Hotel booking service - probably paying premium rates and missing out on good rates.
ID Theft protection is a joke.

whilst it's great that you are giving people the heads up surely it's fair for others to comment on the down side of this 'deal'? Afterall, it's nothing special that other banks don't offer.

Agree, this will obviously work for some, though my sister who works at a bank tells me that most of their premium account customers don't really get value for money from their products - but this is not the same bank/product. It's great that this has been posted, so that those who will benefit can take it up.

Travel Insurance -
Europe Only Under 50s £14
Europe Only Over 50s £17
Worldwide £53 www.direct-travel.co.uk
All Taken from moneysavingexpert.co.uk :
The Multitrip policy bought exclusively via comparison site Moneysupermarket* (you pay more direct) is £13.79 if you're under 50, though the excess is £150 (ie if you claim you pay the first £150).
I've not included disabled or over 65's here, again many insurers don't cover these, so check on moneysavingexpert for recommended good deals.

Mobile Phone Insurance - included in most home insurance policies, so free.Cheap payg insurance is either not worth it, or just buy a £20 phone to replace it = less than the excess.
Travel money home delivery - Some may need this 'delivery', I shop around always for the best rates at the time, and use a Nationwide FlexAccount card in Europe, incl Turkey, for free.
House Insurance - just had a Quidco £100 cashback on mine, making it by far the cheapest out there - no 1 supplier is likely to be always cheapest, so shop around.
ID Theft Protection - take reasonable preventative measures for free, and probably not useful for most people.

Just my thoughts, and why this product isn't for me, and some others.

this is a really bad deal - £13 a month is a complete rip-off.
