Possibly the ham is cut by machine and does not always come out evenly, so sold as trimmings. Still tastes the same though. You need to look through the packs to get the ones with slices.

usually when it's too close to the bone to slice correctly. Can occasionally get bits of bone or gristle cut in. Still preferable to the 'reformed' cheap stuff.

Also I got in Poundland a couple of days ago a pack of very thin slices trimmings of Honey Roast Ham in a massive 450gm pack, £1. I have not seen that before.

You do need to pick a good pack though, some packs are lean while others are fatty. Also, read the label, because I've had just cooked ham and on another occasion had smoked ham (horrid). There isn't much difference in packaging, so do check!

Normal price.Freezing.No offer.

Usual price. Quality use to be much better than it is at the moment. Packs vary a lot. Good for cooking with though

If you pick the right one's, this can be great. My biggest issue is that some of it can be really watery. But great value.

tends to be short dates but nice ham

This is off cuts of at least six different types of ham. I would recommend looking at the ingredients, not just the "type of ham" on the label, as they do a number of different smoked hams, cooked hams etc. Sometimes it's as little as 76% meat, most are much more though. One has over 100% meat. The Ale fortified ham is my favourite, but very rare.

Iceland also do offcuts for £1.50, ham, chicken, turkey and beef. Check the percent of meat, a lot are 92% or more, some as low as 65%

"Smoked"?
People actually WANT to eat stuff that tastes like it has fallen in the fire?

Unlike the rest (cough-Tesco), Aldi was only effected slightly. Plus the horse joke is very old and stale now.

I've stopped shopping at Aldi, as their prices have risen and the quality of products has gone right down.

Stale horse probably still tastes better than smoked ham.

When in worked in a meat factory all the bits like this were used as rework, and put back into the start of the processing operation.
You defiantly have to look at it as about 80 or 90% is processed. The amount of salt and weird powders which go in is crazy.
Most shops will have some of these off cut type things. Same with bacon trimmings, B&M has some cracking ham in at £1.69 for 400g but the quality it a bit hit and miss recently, sometimes its nicer Wiltshire ham, and sometimes it looks like its been sliced off of the pink panthers danglies.
