Smokehead?

:)

So which real distillery does it come from?
#2
Smokehead is a popular single Islay malt from Ian Macleod distillers. Debate has raged over the identity of the distillery which supplies the whisky for Smokehead. We know, but we're not telling.

They reckon it's Ardbeg

If you want smoke go for the Laphroaig 10 over this £26 on amazon, better provenance. or wait for the glenfarclas 10yo lightning deal at 8pm if you prefer less smoke.

Also oban 14 aat 8am tomorrow which is lovely.

Laphroaig is great but very different to Smokehead. Smokehead doesn't have the heavy medicinal edge that Laphroaig does, so is a better choice if you're just looking for the smokiness.

Updated the title of the deal as this is sold by and dispatched by Amazon, not just fulfilled. I think whoever changed it got confused by a separate seller.

36% claimed.

this would go great with the Amex deal - £15 off a £25 spend @ Amazon if you use at least 2 Amex Membership Rewards points to part pay - deal is posted here on HUKD, I already used it (only for Gold, Platinum & Green Amex cards)

I know it tastes different but my point was you can get a named Islay distillery with a 10 year age statement for the same price as this NAS probably 5-7 year old whisky from an unnamed distillery.

So your point was "don't worry about what it tastes like, so long as it's got a name on it"?

Helpful.

This shouldn't be compared with Laphroaig.

Quite like this, smoky but not overpowering with plenty of other flavours going on.

I prefer to go off taste rather than name/age.

No my point was that you can buy various certified older whiskys with better provenance for the same or less money, you can chose one which suits your taste if you don't like the one i suggested. The Glenfarclas was £22 pounds on the amazon Lightning deal this evening and that's a stonking good whisky with an age statement and at least 3-5 years older than this. I was not suggesting you compare the taste to Lappy
