I have been "caught up" in various sales/hot deals at Debenhams.

However, alot of their stuff is more expensive to begin with than other places, and also quite a bit of their stuff is, without doubt, inferior quality.

The sales service is poor too, if you need to take anything back.

And if you go into the shop the way they sell sweets everywhere (overpriced) is cheap and nasty too, especially if you have children in tow (manipulative when buying bathroom towels, non?).

I am trying to think of any real bargain I got from Debenhams and I can't.

Nothing personal to the poster, i don't know if its a good deal or not, but just saying to people in general beware .....

I just tried a dummy order for the 9 tog superkingsize duvet, and with 15% discount and free delivery it gave me £22.95,looked on argos site and they are doing a superking duck feather and down 10.5 tog for £32.99(this is a everyday price),imo this is a very poor deal.COLD

I mainly shop online at Debenhams so don't experience this (the one time I exchanged an online order in store it went v smoothly and mailed returns are refunded quickly) you can get some great bargains from there, in particular fragrance and childrens clothes, the codes are fantastic for making them a bigger bargain, I cannot understand what you are warning people to beware of :?
#12
The was £85.00 the op is advertising is for the 12 tog superkingsize duvet which is reduced to £25.50.
op has used the was price from above product then used the now price from the single 12tog duvet to make this look like a better deal than it actually is!!!!!!!!
#13
Wonder why this deal is getting hotter?there is alot better quality duvets out there at round about same cost, its only hollowfibre
#14
Look at the deal advertised,it is NOT reduced from £85 to £13.50,the poster is using the was from the most expensive size/tog duvet and the now price from the smallest/cheapest duvet!!!!!!!
#15
have reported to have the 'was' price changed
#16
Cold, poor value and incorrectly posted.
#17
unbeleivable why is this a hot deal?its not a HOT DEAL at all,im sure if someone said toilet mess was for sale cheap,it would be voted hot.lol
#18

just my personal experience, and opinion, you don't have to accept it. i don't like their stuff. their "designer" clothes and homeware e.g. "Jasper Conran" is IMO very badly made. when you enter the shop there is quite a bit of "tat" and they always seem to be trying to get that extra 10 pence out of you ... hence sweets everywhere you look ... tacky.

however, if you find different, thats great.

and 5p for a carrier bag, what a joke. I bought a frying pan in there the other day and had to buy a bag to put it in.

Quite agree with this. Bought a load of stuff in Xmas sale at Debenhams and largely regretted it. Returning stuff wasn't a fun experience. Will avoid next year.
#23
I still think this is hot. While you can find fairly cheap duck duvets this is one of the best hollow fibre duvets that you will find. Snuggledown are a very good make and don't normally come cheap. It will be miles better than most other hollowfibre duvets.
#24
This is a cracking deal, see if you can find this duvet at that price anywhere else, comparing with cheaper brands or argos is not a fair comparison, I saw a Duvet in Tesco for £7.99, yes it is cheaper than Deb's but it was rubbish and in no way hot.
This is a quality hollow fibre Duvet at a great price and thats why its hot.

Comments about the store and where they place the sweets are not helpful or at all relevent!
I wish HD would remove silly comments like this:x

So bottom lineis, for this Duvet, its a great price. Voted hot
#25
Its totally relevant because its a comment on the store when you go in, and how down market it is at heart, as well as manipulative (its a department store, not even a supermarket). maybe you never leave your armchair. ... its not a silly comment i made, a thoughtful and grown-up one perhaps though, that went over your head .....

(its a department store, not even a supermarket

What the **** does that mean! Supermarkets sell food. Yes, its a department store, full of departments and concessions (funnily enough). Are you saying that because I bought perfume at the Clarins counter in Debenhams I have bought it from a downmarket store? Surely the product is the same whether I buy it from Debenhams or Harrods.
The hotdeal is for a duvet which would be unreturnable no matter what store you purchased it from. So the fact that Debenhams sells sweets is on this occassion as irrellivent as most of your previous comments are.
#27
what the hell are you getting so worked up about. what is about hotdeals that attracts numbskulls?

what i mean is - listen carefully - supermarkets sell FOOD! sweets and chocs, etc are FOOD. It is MANIPULATIVE for a DEPARTMENT STORE and also a sign of how DOWNMARKET they are and desperate for profits (can you READ english and understand it TOO?) PERhaps urgghhh... my post was perfectly reasonable if you read some of the commetns in return, you will see.

now, i suggest you get a life.
#28
p.s. i am not going on this website any more ... too many morons .....
#29
Seems you are the one that is getting worked up!
We all know you will be back on this site because its so good at saving you and I money.
By your logic, any supermarket that also sells homewares, cloths, or TV's or similar makes that supermarket a supermarket down supermarket. There is no logic in your view or opinion, that because a shop sells sweets its downmarket.
By your logic, Harrods is also a downmarket store because it also sells sweets, which are also placed at tills and around the store and it also sells Duvets.
If you can not control your urge to buy sweets or say no to children than that is not the stores fault. I can say I have shopped in both stores many times and and never bought sweets for me or my kids becuase I can say no. Just as both stores sell flowers and I have not bought them either.
