solaris on the atari 2600 was great
which has nothing to do with the above deal
#3
great price, but the original was better

Thought it was the Andrei Tarkovsky original, sadly not. That would have been hotter than a very hot thing in a deep fat fryer.

Cheers

Also a huge pile in Poundland at Washington today (plus the opposite of sex, with Christina Ricci)

Waste of time watching both films. I'd rather recommend "Solaris" by Stanislaw Lem, the book that is the real original. Btw, I prefer "The Invincible" ...

Oh, If you like "the Hitchhiker guide.." you'll love "The Cyberiad"!

Movie sucked ass when i saw it years ago. Wouldn't even pay £1 for it lol

Great film, I must see the original one of these days too.
Hot.

Good price for Clooney fans but a dire re-vamp. Having said that I got to see the original again a while back and it hadn't aged all that well (like myself). Whereas Tarkovsky's later, more personal 'Mirror' is one of the finest art films ever made. I think Film4 are showing it on a Thursday afternoon sometime soon as part of a cinema classics series.

What A Load Of Rubbish The Film Is They Would Have To Pay Me Watch This Again:?

99p too much in my opinion, awful film truly awful. i got it as part of a boxset and had to get rid of the boxset because this film was soooooo bad:x

It's too sophisticated, complex and romantic a sci-fi film for some people I suppose.

Real human issues but no laser beams, eh?

Has a Steven Soderbergh and James Cameron commentary on it as well.

Bah! Not even worth 99p. Lousy remake of the Tarkovsky classic.
#15
Decent film with good acting - but cut way too short by Steven Soderbergh
who turns it into a poetic interlude instead of the film it should have been.
The highlights are the music score and the wonderfully apt special effects.
Anyways I liked it generally.

I really have to go and watch the older Russian film and get the book sometime...

Great music and tidy visuals, not too futuristic and no annoying aliens or monsters. They didn't discover any dinosaurs and get chased around the screen for an hour and a half.

I've always liked film where thing slowly revolve in space to hypnotic or classical music. I also prefer films where nothing much really happens.

Good comments. This flick has an elegance to it this takes some thought before it's fully appreciated. Chris's sense of grief and loss is the thing that stays with me. This film could so easily be a ghost story set on Earth instead, like Dark Water.
