HOLD ON TO YOUR HEAT GUYS!

O M G!!! SOLERO LOVERS UNITE!!!

THEY KILLED THE SOLERO!

While this is the usual (normally great) deal that floats around (a pack of Unilever lollies £1ish, BOGOF etc.) I have a serious point!

BEWARE THE EVIL CORPORATE GOONS HAVE RUINED THEM

By all means try em out, but what they say they've done is: "NOW WITH ADDED FRUIT PIECES!!"

GREAT! ? NOOOOOO... what they've done is take the puree off the outside, and made it horrible cheap nasty fruit flavoured ice. And the ice-cream's now totally tasteless, not that lovely rich vanilla we're all used to. Check it out... you'll see I'm right. Now it tastes like a bottle of cheap tropical fruit juice.

They're not so bad I'll be binning the lot, but I was close. This used to be one of the greatest ice creams out there. They finally did for it! SCUMBAGS!

Opinions please! This is an emergency! (Add heat if you agree!)

OH AND THANKS TO THE POSER OF THE "ISP" poster, who pointed out that there was a new NASTY GM ADDITIVE IN THEM !!! 'Ice Structuring Proteins'

Read this: (EVIL UNILEVER POISON!)

How do we make ISP?

It only takes a tiny amount of ISP to make a change to our ice cream. We produce ours through fermentation with the help of a genetically-modified baker's yeast - this is a production process widely used in the food industry to produce ingredients such as vitamins, flavourings and enzymes. However, no genetically-modified yeast is transferred to the final product. To ensure that the ISP is as pure as possible the yeast cells are removed through several stages of fine filtration at the end of the process. For that reason ISP is not genetically modified. This is an important distinction which was necessary to get this technology approved by EFSA.
You can enjoy Solero in full confidence of a fruitier and greater tasting treat, enhanced by our safe technology...and ISP which carries the approval of the UK's Food Standards Agency.

lol, heat added just for your passion for an ice cream lolly :p

Not tasted one of these for a couple of years, but they were lovely and if I remember correctly, pretty low in fat too??

I feel your pain :)

Bit like there being too many peanuts in a marathon now for me to enjoy it. When it was just a layer between the mars bar base and caramel it was a much nicer thing!

is this a deal or a debate? anyway i prefer the delmonte smoothies to these

Oh and walkers taking their beautiful beef and onion crisps and making them gaggin' steak and onion!

Totally agree, it's nowhere near as nice as it used to be. Saw it earlier today in Sainsburys on 2 for 1 but went for Magnum instead.

I've not tasted the new ones, but heat for the description.

It's like when Hoola Hoops started coming with 50% less whatever it was. Yes, they're more healthy now, but what about that little thing called taste? We still want some guilty pleasures :(

OH SO TRUE!... Remember Rolos? When you could put them in the fridge and use them to build houses? But they tasted GOOOOOD. Now they're sickly muck.

DAMN YOU NESTLE! DAMN YOU UNILEVER... DAMN YOU CORPORATE SATAN! WITH YOUR PROFITEERING FILTH! Is nothing sacred?

Funny how every time the pack says "NEW IMPROVED!!!" and the price goes up...

... YOU JUST KNOW IT AINT

It's always so much worse.

And the size usually goes down with a price hike, mars bars were 62.5 grams, now they're 55g!

I hope the supermarket copies of Solero are made by someone else, so they pick up all of the custom. No doubt some penny pinching, brown nosed junior exec has just been given a promotion for masterminding this :{
#11
If it is true, then I'll probbaly be avoiding them from now on. Both of the main parts, the smooth outside and the quality ice cream, were what made me buy them.

+1 which are currently half price in tesco at £1 a box. I stocked up with 6 boxes, could easily buy more
#14
Love solero but with a family of 6 ice creams don't last very long here. Way too expensive in the long run.

will wait for em half price in tesco to check this out
dont like the delmonte smoothies that much but like the fruit juice ones of theirs (both were a quid or so last week in tesco)

I'm feeling your pain s2frost. I know they're not in the same foodtype category but I too am a disgruntled customer of the megabeast corporations. I used to purchase muchly amounts of Supernoodle Pot 2 Go which were splendiferous and low calorie to boot. What do they go and do? They IMPROVE it by taking the flavouring out of the main body of the packaging alongside the noodles and instead stick them in a silver sachet!!!!!! I tell you , never has a foodstuff so closely resembled the smell of cat's urine! Needless to say I found this slightly offputting and after 2 attempts at eating said 'improved' foodstuff I gave up! Now they are no longer stocked in any of my local supermarkets!!!! They can't say I didn't warn them , cos I did so if they said that they'd be lying! I got a whole £3 in vouchers back for taking the trouble to warn them that their foodstuffs were in serious need of a retro-makeover as no **** was buying them! I don't think they believed me! Pot Noodles just don't cut it!

We are a family of seven and I must admit to buying the Asda six packs of cones, on 2 for £2. They have choc, mint choc, strawberry and vanilla and very occasionally toffee. My lot love 'em!

Only £1 at morrisons right now, no need to buy two. Bought a box to see if the changes is better or not, the old school stuff was awesome.

Not as good deal but hotness added for the great desciption :p hehe

Have to totally agree with the statement. Exotic Solero's were my favourite ice-cream lolly. With these added fruit bits, it is now disgusting.... They have totally killed it and where I used to stock up when on offer. I will not buy again until they go back to how they were.......
#25
just found this webpage explaining what they've done to the solero - something called ISP LOL

Where did that saying come from, as it's horrible!

Never had a Solero. I like the skinny cow ice lollies, they are nice :)

solero's were never my bag...horrible creatures, that said these companies should realise that if it ain't broke don't fix it.

When tizer went all healthy it lost me, i think it was barrs just trying to protect irn bru from the health fascists by sacrificing tizer.

First chalky vegetarian Polo mints.
Then soft Yorkies (and they have the cheek to run a campaign claiming that they're not for girls)
Then replacing the raspberry fruit pastilles with disgusting strawberry ones.
Now this.

Bring back hanging!

I bet it says 'New Improved Recipe' on the box! :p

The path of the righteous man is beset on all sides by the iniquities of the selfish and the tyranny of evil men. Blessed is he who, in the name of charity and good will, shepherds the weak through the valley of darkness, for he is truly his brother's keeper and the finder of lost children. And I will strike down upon thee with great vengeance and furious anger those who would attempt to poison and destroy My brothers. And you will know My name is the Lord when I lay My vengeance upon thee.
