In a frantic battle to the chequered flag, Sonic & Sega All-Stars Racing sees Sonic and friends speed around tracks set in mediaeval castle ramparts, lush rainforests and bustling cities, all taken from the visually rich and varied universes of Sonic and Sega. Fan favourites such as Dr. Eggman, Tails, AiAi, Amigo and many more will join Sonic in their custom built vehicles, revving their engines and jostling to stay ahead of the pack. Each character will race around the track in cars, planes, motorbikes, and in AiAi's case - a banana mobile! Secret short cuts, swift handling and avoiding strategically placed obstacles are certainly the best way to get to the top of the podium

was that meant to be funny? I was asking because personally I don't see the point when gaming on a PC is pants compared to gaming on consoles such as the PS3 or Xbox 360

I wasn't being ignorant, this is why I asked the question because I wanted to know. I only stated my opinion when you decided to get arsey.

is not a question, it's a statement. A statement of ignorance.

And I have better things to do than explain the advantages of PC gaming to you.;-);-)

Good for you.

I only have my PC, and I don't have to pay a subscription fee to play online...

Anyone played this game?
Interested in trying to tease my sister away from WoW.

Great game, everything you want from a Kart racer. Easy to pick up and play, but pretty deep when you get into the thick of things.

I've only tried the Xbox version (and the demo on the PS3) but I would assume the PC version is just as good.

If you don't want the slow down mentioned in the Reviews for the console version and don't mind losing the multi player and have a "good" pc then of course its worth it and of course that why people own decent PC's that are more powerful than consoles over 3 years old! :-)

I brought from Hut too!

Runs great on the PC, and vastly superior resolutions to any childs console ;-) Heat for the Hut. Go get it !

The PC version of this game has no online play, so you've got no worries there. :-D

It's a shame really, cos having played it on the consoles and on the PC, the PC version does run a lot better, but no online play is a pretty big omission for a game like this. The console versions do have online play of course. The 360 version has Banjo Kazooie as a playable character and you can also play as your Xbox Live avatar if you like.

Good price though, so voted hot.

Oh yeah - The game itself is very good. It's basically Mario Kart in HD. There's plenty of tracks and characters to play. As well as the grand prix mode, time trials etc. there's a challenge mode with 64 challenges that should keep you busy for a while. All versions have split screen local multiplayer too (apart from the handheld versions obviously).

I still play a lot of games on my PC. If it wasn't so damn expensive to keep it up to date to run the latest games then I'd play all my games on the PC. For me keyboard and mouse is far better for gaming and a high res monitor 2 feet from your eyes is perfect.

Basically FPS on the PC. Car games on the PC via TV and on Console. Fable series on Xbox and family games on console. There is a crossover point where it doesn't matter which format but my favourite games are FPS and the PC has the edge.

It's not that expensive to upgrade a PC to play modern games if you have half a clue what your doing.

People that go to PCworld and pay £1400 for a PC and end up with 800 quids worth of components then yeah, i can see that getting expensive, although i have to admit the electrical stores have seemed to get more competitve vs the online retailers over the last few years with some of the deals i see popping up here but still seem to cut corners with dodgy PSUs for EG and still charge premium for them.

I plug my DV7 (fairly decent) laptop into my 40" Bravia and play this game with the kids using my PS3 wireless controllers (using an app called WINDS3) and I think the PC version looks better and has a better frame rate than the PS3 version.

Its a REALLY good game and I think its better than a certain other kart racer due to the HD graphics, great music & sound, the unlockables and the track designs which are a lot of fun.

Its suitable for all ages but beware it gets tricky if you leave the difficulty set to normal. We had to set it to easy to get on the podiums! :-D

It has split screen for up to 4 players but (strangely) the PC version has no online or LAN play which is a great shame. :x

The game has what you'd expect from a kart racer but I liked the addition of a mission mode which has lots of different objectives and challenges to complete. Also the special weapons are a lot of fun as are the colourful SEGA characters and theres lots of unlockable characters and tracks.

Overall I'd give it 8 out of 10 for adults and 10 for the kids as its a lot of fun and has serious replay value!

Important: Please check the required PC specs before purchasing! If your PC's not up to it I would recommend the console versions.

WINDS3 is excellent, been using it a while and theres a fully functional trial available.
It supports up to 2 Sixaxis (or dualshock3) PS3 controllers at the same time and anyone whos used them will know that these pads are awesome!!
Works with Win7 (32bit) and I use it to play most PC games incl. GTA IV, Dirt 2 & even HalfLife 2, Portal & other steam games as it has xbox360 pad emulation!
The support is great too. I needed another serial for my laptop (in built bluetooth adaptar) and he sent me one the same day so i can now use the program/controllers on both PCs

Good price. Have some heat

this game is probably the closest to mario kart (best racer ever) on a non nintendo system.

Well I tend to play a certain type of game on my PC i.e. MMOs EVe - Online, Warhammer Online and RTS game like Company of Heroes, Dawn of War etc. Sometimes Battlefield - 2142. Racing, Action, Sport, Beat em ups I play on the Xbox 360. Also a console you can use for more social gaming when you have friends around.

Anyway I like this game. I downloaded a demo on my Xbox. It's the type of game that's fun with friends. So I wouldn't tend to play it on a PC. However a HOT price

I mainly use my PC for drawing different size boxes on the screen with my mouse pointer, hours of fun!

No, just for downloading stuff and a bit of work etc. I used to play games on my PC but got fed up with the constant need to upgrade, sometimes due to a desire to get that extra fps but more often enforced!!. I just PERSONALLY prefer the ease of the 360 and the fact that we can loaf around on the sofa's in front of a big TV not huddle around a 22" monitor like meerkats :p

PC gaming isnt pants, I agree that most games can be better on PC, as the consoles, unlike PC's aren't upgradable. As such, all games have set parameters from the date of manufacture that they can't overstep.... However, PC gaming has always and still is, a bit geeky. For some reason consoles have become cool, whereas PC gamers still carry the stigma of being mainly spotty, prepubecent odourous teens who dont like the sun or people very much :p

I build all my own PC's and I simply cannot afford to upgrade. I need the whole lot since my last build was a shuttle and as you know it won't accommodate an ATX board. The PSU is useless and cannot be used nor can the RAM nor the graphics card and on and on. It may not be expensive to you but I simply cannot afford to do it at the moment.

I have more than half a clue at what I'm doing. Obviously not as good as you though :p

I've had the same argument recently. Perhaps "having half a clue what you are doing" relates to a five finger discount from some warehouse :p
