Seems a good deal for a Sony laptop with a decent graphics card for the price. Processor's not quite as good as the i3's which are available around this price but this laptop has a few other things going fo it such as the 6gb RAM, blu ray drive and dedicated graphics card. Finally I think Sony's are extremely well built and worth a few quid extra for the quality

Why would you want a blu-ray player when the screen is 1080p

I joke, great deal. Highly tempted. Thankfully i'm a student and just can't afford it :D

Heat added.

phenemom is better than i3. i3 is only dual core but phenom is triple core. Intel processor are bit more expensive because of brand name.

maybe has more cores but i3-330M is faster by a few %, check cpubenchmark.net

think this is the one I put on a month or so ago at £499. heat

Just got a i3 380M 15.6" Laptop a bit cheaper than that.

Mine was:
i3 380
6GB Ram

but doesn't have the blu-ray or dedicated GPU.

However it came in at £385.00 - so a good bit less really and the cpu is a fair bit faster than the AMD one in this

Well if you’re gonna play the AMD fan-boy card at least spell the name of the processor correctly! oO
The i3 will slaughter this 1.9GHz tri-core in applications that utilise 1 or 2 threads and usually match or beat it in applications that can use all 3 of its cores.

Decent price for a Sony, but they are always overpriced in the first place.

Please leave technical comments to those that know what they are talking about, as you obviously don't have a clue.

Thanks.

wow, whats the battery life like, 1 hour?!
#15
Woeful battery life (3.5mAh) and dismal resolution (1366 x 768). In this case you're really paying for a slightly shoddy Sony badge.

No the Phenom is not better, even though it is triple core... the dual-core i3 CPU is faster. Please stop posting unless you know what you are talking about, as it is seriously misleading for others.

*sigh* another misleading poster, dual core and triple core alone doesn't decide which is better. Just looking at cpubenchmark.com it's clear a basic i3 model benchmarks 1.5x faster than the phenom in this deal. Considering there have been deals recently for £400 with i5 laptops from Acer this definately is more expensive for Sony brand. However as a deal based on the actual laptop it is the best price around for the model so voted hot.

Weak graphics and weak processor cold

Given you could get an i3, 5470, 1080p, 3GB, 320Gb for £539 direct from sony this is a very poor deal.

Could you post that deal? I might be interested in it!

Just go on the vaio website, use the configure option, it has to be white or pink (£40 cheaper) and reduce the memory to 3GB, add the graphics, then you can add the 1080p screen, there's a free upgrade to a 500gb hdd as well.

Ok not as good as last weeks free bluray writer, but it'll be a reasonable machine.

Just saw that they have free express delivery too (while standard cost about £7 - a strange situation...)

True. Don't forget hyper-treading on i3.
