Best mp3 player I have ever owned. If Sony had half an idea how to market their products which are, on an audio level, vastly superior to Apple's then this would/should outsell the ipod nano by a country mile. However we live in a world where style seems to sell better than quality.

that's the NWZ-E445, it's around £82 in Amazon...

Probably the price drop is because the E455 is releasing soon

I got this from Amazon last November, I sent it straight back, the Volume at maximum level was so quiet for me, Useless if you listen when commuting.
#15
Seems to be a lot of reviews stating that the volume is not very high on Amazon, would go for this but must admit the volume problem is putting me off.
#16
good deal cheap for sony 16gb but not available to everyone...

OTOH, if there were say 2 in the whole country at this price and they've both gone, it's a time-waster, isn't it?

Wholeheartily agree, I own their flagship NWZ-X1060 player and the sound quality is unrivalled on Sony Players..and yet amazingly in their odd wisdom Sony have deleted the player and don't have a touch screen player any more.....they don't know their ass from their elbow in marketing, so many different players on the market it's confusing to the consumer.

whitchurch and oswestry have one for those interested
#20

#21
Just about to reserve the last at Uttoxeter and it went out of stock in the time it took to get to the next page ... None local now either ... Ah well ...

Actually the reason the iPod originally became popular was because iTunes made syncing your songs and playlists something even your Grandma could do, in a time when you still needed to be a computer nerd just to get your mp3 player hooked up to the computer. I remember every review of mp3 players giving iPods highest scores every single time for this very reason. Yes, being pretty helped a lot, but if the players had been a pain to sync no one would have bought them.

iTunes has become super bloated now, but even so, I'd much rather use it than Windows Media Player to sync a device. There is a reason why everyone just drags the file folders onto the player rather than using software to syncing, because all the other software is woefully terrible.

The big downside with this otherwise excellent machine is that you cant generate a playlist from the songs on the player without using a computer.
#27
One in Jarrow, Ive left it for someone who doesn't have 3 different mp3 players - 1 Sony, 1060x, 1 Cowon O2 and a Cowon D2 - so I hardly need it !
#28
Good deal voted hot, not in stock anywhere near me though.

Try MediaMonkey but not sure if its compatible with the Sony players but far better than itunes for synching ipods etc imho....

Not very positive reviews on the Argos site...

Check the setup....apparently if you set PMP's to EU, they automatically limit the volume....
I have the NWZ-S618S and it's absolutely loud! From a max volume of 30, I rarely put it louder than 14.... whereas if you set the Automatic Volume Limiting System (AVLS), it sets the maximum to 13 !!!

I commute daily, train and tube, and it's never failed me....
If you have the AVLS turned off...may be you should pay a couple o'quid and get some noise-isolating buds...
Hope this helps...

With this player specifically (the NWZ-e445) can anyone give a rough idea, what is the maximum volume limit in dB that this thing can reach?

Also, is there a MicroSD slot on this to allow it to take a MicroSD card?

Unfortunately it doesn't give the maximum dB level in the specs nor does it mention MicroSD anywhere :(

No Sony MP3 player include a MicroSD slot. All recent Sony players have an AVLS limiter option you can either have on or off if you want them at ear damaging volumes.

As this deal has been successful (see above), no need to answer. No idea what OTOH is by the way.

just picked up one of these. Cheers
#38
Anyone who managed to get one of these, what do you think of it (volume etc)?
Thanks.

Thanks OP - Just picked up one today for my son's birthday - Bathgate nr Edinburgh - still 1 left
There also a few of the 8Mb version - not quite as good value - but not bad - 8 Mb model - for some reason seems to be the smaller stores?
I also picked up 1 of the chargers mantioned in this post - AC Adaptor in their Falkirk store - again 1 left

Now - off to find a case...

Picked up the last one in Cheshunt over the weekend.

I also have a NWZ-S639F 16GB which is superb volume wise but the top volume on this model is shocking. Anyone know how I can hack the limiter please?

Cheers & Heat.
