Product Information

The Sony RDR-HXD560 combines a hard drive HDD, DVD recorder and digital TV tuner in one sleek compact unit. Plan and select what you want to watch with the electronic programme guide and then record up to 106 hours worth of material direct to the hard drive. Its intuitive interface then lets you manage all your stored material so you can watch what you want, when you want.

Its easy to transfer recorded material from the hard drive to a DVD and you can even connect your digital camcorder to transfer your home movies. The RDR-HXD560 will play a multitude of formats and with 'Chasing playback' you can watch the beginning of a programme while it is still being recorded.

Seemed quite a good price compared to other major retailers.

Stangely Currys(part of DSG) wanted £299.99:w00t: , as did PC World.
John Lewis Price £299.00.
Comet Price £293.69.
5% off with egg card takes it down to £227.04

You can't really compare. It's not like with like in terms of facilities.
We have the Humax and it's a great bit of kit with 2 freeview tuners BUT there is no DVD recording facility built in.
I bought it brand new on ebay for £199.99 and I can recommend it. It is an excellent machine.
