This is my first deal =)

I've just spotted this at Argos. The picture on the Argos page is ambiguous, but I'm almost sure that the speaker looks like the one in the picture on this page (Googled for the product, found this speaker, it is too 30W and Bluetooth and £120 elsewhere)

The Bluetooth dongles on their own are about £20 I believe, so this deal is HOT!
Hope you enjoy.

Getting stock of this is going to be tough! You need to reserve and just check all your local stores, I got the last one at Lakeside. This is only available at Extra stores, so when stock checking it may save time to ignore the others. The Argos stock checker is awful!

I also saw they had stock at these stores (If you're quick!):
1 @ Thamesmead
1 @ Camden
2 @ Perry Barr (Birmingham)

Don't forget £1 at Quidco for Reserving an item!

It's on eBay for an extra £5 (@ £44.99) with free delivery - http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&Item=360204041956&Category=111694&_trkparms=algo%3DLVI%26its%3DI%26otn%3D2 Thanks for Sashicee for this update

Bluetooth dongles are not 20 GBP, you can get them on ebay from Hongkong for about 1.50. There is nothing complicated or expensive about Bluetooth - it is designed to be a cheap and cheerful protocol :-)

The package might be ok value, but it is not really outstanding.
#10
does this only work with ipod/iphones or can you use it with a laptop for example?
#11
I've had one of these for a while. I got it from a link on here about 18 months ago as a Bluetooth speaker for my iPhone 3g (with which it connects very happily, although you can't change the volume from the iPhone, iPhones problem, not the speakers).

It's pretty good for this price (although it's not worth the full RRP they claim). Sound quality isn't bad, certainly better than anything else I've seen at this price (but certainly no BOSE). Construction doesn't feel that sturdy, but ok for the job. Bluetooth pairing is a doddle.
#12
Got it from play.com for £30 like 18 months ago :/
#13
will this ipod dongle work with the iphone?

Also, has anyone ever purchased this? Or advise me on whether I could use it as a 'cowboy' wireless surround sound via my pc which is connected to my TV?

Thank you

You're right; usb bluetooth dongles are a couple of pounds a pop. However, that is not what this deal is about as the title clearly states. The OP was right; iPod bluetooth dongles will set you back at least £15 each.

Good deal but showing as out of stock now :-(

Been on here before as clearance during previous catalogue ... for me, the sound quality was barely passable even given the reduced price. I returned it disappointed.

I bought one of these when they first came out - £40 special offer from Play. Also bought the Sony BT headphones and Sony BT adaptor.

Sound quality from the speaker is very poor. It sounds like listening to music underwater. There's too much bass even positioning it away from the wall and simply no midrange. Vocals don't sound crisp at all. Very muddy sort of sound. Audiophiles should stay well away, and even people looking to listen to their ipods whilst in their kitchens can do much much better. Heck, even DAB radio sounds better than this.

I also plug my iPod into the Acoustic Energey Aego-M 2.1 speakers and to give you a comparison, I'd rate the sound of those at say, 9/10. I'd score the Sony at 2/10 in terms of sound quality.

Also worth noting is that you cannot adjust the volume remotely - you have to walk to the speaker.

PS. If anyone wants to buy my one I'm selling it for £40inc BT dongle and headset or £25 just for the speaker. Have only used it for an hour or so. Am based in Bristol (its boxed up and ready to be collected at the Big Yellow Storage place in Ashton Gate).

I left it in my bathroom all the time - great to have a bit of music via bluetooth dongle on my deskop pc or put my ipod touch 2g in a condom for water proof while taking shower :-D

Personally it is well worth the money, bring lots of joy when taking shower or on the throne

I gave up on looking for BT speakers, wireless transmitters etc. as they seemed either flaky or over-priced. Finally went for Sony MBR-100 bluetooth receiver - just plugs into existing hifi and receives music from Sony W995 mobile. Can control volume too but range limited to 10 metres. Not sure if it will work with iPhone but if it has got bluetooth I guess it should be fine.

iphone should be ok. I am using touch 2G with 3.0 firmware which enables the bluetooth module, should work same as a iphone
my n97 and E90 communicator also works flawlessly
dell mini9 and custom built core i7 desktop - not a single problem at all!

It sounds ok, and i dont get any interfere or broke sound through one piece of wall
seriously i wouldnt compare this to my 15grand of Bower&Wilkins, for the price it is OK. you can spend thousands of nectar to get this for free

I bought one of these last year for £29.99. If I remember correctly it was from Play.com.

The quality of the speakers far exceeds what you would expect. They are made by Sony. They are very "Basey", and clear. I carry them all over my house, out in the garden, into my shed, etc. I use my laptop, mobile phones to stream music to them.

VERY Hot deal!

Supports most bluetooth equipped devices, I use mine to stream Podcast from my mobile phone when I'm taking a bath. Works a treat and good sound quality.

I picked up the last one in Argos Chesterfield this morning, and returned home to find that that the ipod dongle is missing from the box.

If you are lucky (?) enough to find one, do check it is complete before leaving the store.

Mine will be returned to Chesterfield tomorrow, so be aware if it comes back in stock there.

I bought one of these earlier in the year when Play.com were selling for £29.99. They are very good and I hook mine up to my ipod touch perfectly and use it as wireless speakers when watching movies via my pc & projector just use a bluetooth dongle.

Bought one today, but I should have listened to the comments above, sound is quite crackly, so is going back tomorrow!!

Well I don't know about crackly, it may have been faulty, but thought it sounded poor, unbalanced & muddled like it was made of two cheap speakers and a shoe-box!

Just collected mine and gave it a go. Connected to my iphone 3g easily and the sound was.. quite good, as good as most ipod docks (excluding the bose and b&w like stuff) Connected to my macbook pro very easily and the sound quality is better than from the iphone.....
Dont need the ipod bluetooth adapter thought..will sell if I get a good price.. wonder if CEX will buy it.. any ideas?
