I just popped into the Sony Centre in Lewisham (London) and they have a 10% weekend going on (except laptops I think).

With the 3D TV (KDL40HX803) they are giving a free Playstation 3, Gran Turismo 5, 2 sets of glasses, and the transmitter the ticket price is £1299.95, then you get the 10% off (£129.95) and then the EX VAT back through claiming (£193.61).

Im not sure if this is just local as Sony Centres are franchised.

this one is even better because of the extra 10% off, what a deal! makes me a bit suspicious though, sony seem really desperate to flog these sets: vat back, free extras AND 10% off? whooaaaaaaoO

I wonder how fast 3d tv's have actually been selling, this looks like they're trying anything to sell them.

Probably because 3DTV is doomed to failure and they need to offload them before they have to sell them for the price of normal LCD TVs!

I think 3D works for the cinema but for the home, its not worth the bother.
#13

Imagine when you are all watching this at home with the funny glasses on you don't you think you will be look a like Batman & Robin!!!!!!!!
#18
Went and got one of these yesterday, now it's extra 10% off! :(

Has anyone found out if the 10% offer is throughout Sony stores yet?

Do you reckon they would refund 10% if I were to take the receipt in? Alternative is to pack it all back up again, take it back, only to re-purchase the exact same package for 10% less!
#19
If only this was a 50"+ model i would be up there like it was Jessica Alba.
#20
Just phoned Sony Meadowhall, they're not doing 10% weekend. 10% only seems to be in certain stores.

So when you go to the cinema you just sit there watching everyone else with there glasses not the film? Same goes for home its not like your going to wear them out the house

offer is not UK wide and just specific to few sony centres, I called two centres and they don't have this offer.
#23
Yea, I phoned both Glasgow stores and they said that because the Sony Centres are franchised out that it's specific stores

if I was bothered about 3D I would get this

dont you get free stuff with the EX703 or NX703 series?
#27
guys if you get the sony store to price match john lewis, can you THEN get the 10% extra off aswell?????
#28
This looks like a good deal, but the Samsung one is similar price (bd player instead of ps3 though).
3D is awesome. Definitely here to stay imo (for some events/films and gaming). The people hating are probably the same ones who were hating HD when it first came out. Just stick to the wireless guys.

I just had a blazing row with one of the workers in the sony shop in essex, i ordered my tv yesterday 46HX803, they priced match John Lewis so basically £1619 for 46'' tv, ps3 bundle, 5 year guarantee

I went down there today to pay off the remainder of my balance £1450

Whilst in there a couple were asking a different employee if he would match JL price to which he replied yes, i then asked if we would get the 10% extra off aswell, and he tried to shrug me off saying that the price match is an offer so no (erm its not an offer its a policy)

He made me look an absolute idiot infornt of the other buyers and basically turned his back to me and proceeded to say ''WHATEVER''

I then went to the till and he was there, he started shouting in the shop, i said i wanted to cancel the order to which his reply was ''OK cancel it, i dont care'' (HIS EXACT WORDS!)

the guy who i made the order with then came out and basically told me to ignore him, to which i replied ''no im not being treated like that i want my money back''

He then said he'd do the same bundle £20 off so £1599 plus 2 free 3D blu rays

My reply was ''ok!''

He was not happy with the other employee at all.

As i was leaving the shop he wanted to shake my hand ''The one who was arrogant to me'' i blanked him

So basically does anyone know if we get the 10% off ontop of the price match ???

I had troubles with my local SC yesterday where they were quite arrogant in saying that they wont price match other Sony Centres because they are all franchised out, but will they price John Lewis? Like is it at the stores discretion, or is it a Sony policy to price match?
#31
I wouldnt think so mate, they are doing a deal by pricematching anyway. They comments on this sire from other users that some sony stores are not willing to pricematch or offer 10% because they are franchises and can charge whatever they want.
Now, im no 3D fanboy, but the way I see it: if you are in the market for a new telly, you may as well pay a little extra and grab one that is 3D capable even if you are not interested in the technology now. I missed the boat last time when I bought my non HD tv when HD technology had just come out :(

the people hating are the people that know 3D without glasses is coming fairly soon, 2012 i reckon

Looks like i just got lucky then :D

Thats what i thought, i need a new HD tv so may aswell have one that has 3D aswell, its just an extra bonus, especially when it works out this cheap

£1619 for tv, ps3 bundle, 3d transmitter, 2 glasses

Less VAT back =£1378
Sell the PS3 for £200, sell GT5 for £30

£1148

If you really didnt want the 3D im sure you could get £150 for 2 pairs of glasses and transmitter

Making the 46'' version £998!!!!!!

Mine will basically work out at £1148 as i want the glasses and transmitter

Still a VERY VERY decent price for pretty much a £1800-£2000 tv!

Now if they do orders over the phone and deliver, this could be a hot deal for someone who wants to take advantage of the inshore promotion. Might be worth a call.

Hope he gets a **** from his boss. When I come across these arrogant sales people I would normally take my business elsewhere. Anyway you still ended up with a good deal there.

Not true, still depends on the size of the room you're putting it in! We've just bought a KDL-40NX713 (similar spec to this but internet enabled) and it is simply stunning in both 2D and 3D; the output quality of the Bravia 3 engine is incredible - far better than the competition at present.

By the way, it's not just Sony pushing 3D - Panasonic, LG & Samsung have all got great deals out, but if the content (particularly on Blu-Ray) doesn't pick up it will die a death.

seems a great price

The following stores are doing 10% off this weekend:

unless you happen to have a 3d capable blue-ray player then you'll be left with only sky/virgin when they roll out their 3d content(don't now if/when freeview or equivalent 3d will be released). if you didn't want the ps3 why didn't you just go for the blue-ray player(not checked the specs but assume it plays 3d blue-rays) and 5 blue-rays instead?
