Subtotal £944!!
quidco 3% -35

Go here for currys blu ray tv bundle http://www.currys.co.uk/gbuk/sony-bravia-kdl-40nx713-40-full-hd-3d-led-tv-with-free-3d-blu-ray-player-2-pairs-of-3d-glasses-and-5-movies-08519057-pdt.html?srcid=369&xtor=AL-1

If you already have a ps3 and can be bothered to ebay the blu ray player and movies but keep the glasses and transmitter, thats £140 for the s470 and £50 for the movies, you'd save yourself a further £190 approx making this deal even cheaper £720 approx.

Also if you want the PS3 bundle then just print comets 40NX713 PS3 deal linked below and show this instore in Curries and do a PM.

http://www.comet.co.uk/p/LED-TV-Packages/buy-SONY-KDL40NX713U-LED-TV-Package/696730

Comet are also doing the 40HX803 with PS3 for £1173 here,
http://www.comet.co.uk/p/LED-TV-Packages/buy-SONY-KDL40HX803U-LED-TV-Package/696935

I bought this deal with a PM in Lakeside Thurrock Curries which included a 5 yr warranty because they are currently giving 5 yr warranties on all tvs over £799

I wasnt able to take advantage of the codes and quidco but perhaps others here can.

You may also be able to PM with a Sony centre, that way you'd get the 5 yr warranty too!

Good Luck!

EDIT also bestbuy currently doing a 14.98% cashback at quidco, making the tv on its own £821, (no extras) here

Where do you get £699 at Currys from ?
#2
If you've already got a PS3 and get the PS3 bundle for free and sell the PS3 for £200 then it works out at £699 approx after all the discounts and VAT back
#3
Christian £899 at Curries!

If you enter the code 60pound and go through quidco for an extra 3%, then if you sell your ps3 for £200 on ebay, that brings this deal to £699.

Ive already got a PS3, ( I chose the blu ray bundle pack cos i thought it might be fun to play around with it before i sold it as used on ebay later). If I wanted it cheaper, id get the ps3 pack and just ebay the PS3.

Does anyone know if there is any significant difference between watching blu rays on the s470 free blu ray player and a ps3 Slim?

Thanks

It says web exclusive in Comet's website, won't Curry's say **** off? n no mention of VAT back with this particular model. Not all Sony model get VAT back.

This one is definitely included in the VAT back offer

logix i walked into Curries and got them to PM comet for me. Took 2 mins. I walked out with a 5 yr warranty too. So it can be done.
#7
Where is the Currys offer with the PS3 - thats comet only ?!?

Your line says "If you already have the ps3 and ebayed one for £200, you could get this tv for £699!! " but you dont get a PS3 with it in combination with all the other codes you mention

So here's the thing. The VAT back deal is only for specific Sony products. The TV and Blu-Ray are covered but the specs and discs aren't.

So when you buy in a bundle, how's anyone supposed to know how much of the total price is for the TV and Blu-Ray player?

And if no-one can say what the price was for those items that qualify, does that mean that bundle deals will not be accepted by Sony in the VAT back deal?

Anyone know?

So, basically you asked them to PM a TV in Curry's with a TV with PS3 package in Comet, and you presumably got it for 1174.. what was the VAT for this?
#10
Thought the Sony VAT back thing doesn't include bundles

You need original bill to claim cash back... when they find out that its part of a package deal, i think it might be rejected VAT back. It hasn't been mentioned anywhere that you can claim VAT back on this package deal. I think you just have to call Sony and clear it up... I wouldn't trust retailers on this.

You can claim VAT back on these deals, there is a huge thread on it on AV forums and SONY have confirmed it 100x over as it's not a "package" as the bundle is free or something. I forget the exact words, wrongly expired.

kudos, for finding that... I wonder why prc direct would incl. VAT back.

Someone could buy the item, and once VAT back rejected they could claim money from PRC for misinterpretation...

You can claim the VAT back on these bundles, hence why the likes of John Lewis have added the VAT back link to these bundles too.

OP you need to report this to get it unexpired and those who expired it should do the same as you were wrong. As the bluray/ps3 bundles are freebies this Christmas too you can still get VAT back. It's not classed as a package as it's FREE. Been looking into this for a month on the bigger models and went for it.

You can then claim the VAT back on the TV cost. So those who expired it were wrong :(

A retailer bundle is not a 'Sony' bundle therefore it would be honoured by Sony.
#18
Its clearly mentioned in para 8 of their claim back form, but if John Lewis has included the bundles with VAT back then I am convinced. To be absolutely sure, if someone could confirm that Sony agreed to do this then that would be definitely best deal ever.

Even then I don;t know how he got it for 899GBP, coz 1169 - VAT = 994GBP according to http://www.johnlewis.com/jl_assets/flash/sonyvat.swf which is a VAT back calc.

if you look through all the deals for the nx713 and hx803 that are on here(seems like every tom, dick and harry are posting these), people who have bought them (from the sony centre especially )are saying that they've been told that the vat back offer is valid on these bundles(on the tv not the blue-ray/ ps3 etc). so if it does turn out that they get rejected when they claim the vat back there'll be a major up-roar, expect to see it on watchdog in that case :)

I'm tempted to get the ps3 bundle deal but don't have a job :(

Because he got it from Currys and used codes? Not JL?

This issues was raised with SONY by loads of people looking at the bigger sets when the VAT back first come out and SONY have said they will be honouring VAT back as it's not classed as abundle, see above.

The least people can do is ask for this to be unexpired as they did so wrongly by jumping the gun. With an edited op though as it's bad form to make the price inclusive of Quidco as it's not guranteed.

Tinkerbelle - "With an edited op though as it's bad form to make the price inclusive of Quidco as it's not guranteed" - title now edited to show £934 without quidco.

Logix88- are you a Solicitor? :)
I was in PRC last saturday for their sale. They told me in no uncertain terms that you could claim VAT back on their Sony TV bundle deals.

Also please note, i got my 40NX703 deal last week when Currys had just their tv priced at £1299 and Comet had just introduced their 1169 bundle deal on the same tv. They PM'd it and I got the 5 yr warranty as it was, and still is, given on all tv's over £799 instore. I did say above that I wasnt able to make use of the codes and quidco but that I hoped someone here can.

I returned my HX803 and gave up the 200 motion flow for the 100hz of this baby, just so that i can have a tv that looked "sexier" :)

Do you work for sony or something? You remind me of this beautiful sony representative I met at John Lewis. While I was checking out 3D content on the NX and her, she couldn't stop talking about how great sony was.

Gozman :)

Me working for Sony? I dont think Im clever enough. Im a beancounter. Only the clever and beautiful people get to work for Sony :p

That Sony rep you met, it wasnt in the Oxford St JL was it? If so, I almost bought a rarther overpriced telly from her as I was utterly in awe....

However, I still have a Samsung LED, and I must say that overall Samsung LED's appear to be more vibrant in contrast than Sony's. Samsungs are slimmer too. Sadly, I missed the samsung rebate offer which ended recently. I am very happy with the NX713 though even though it only has 100Mhz motionflow.

Just what I was going to say.

Can you use staff discount and claim VAT back? I know someone who works in Currys.

Monkey Nuts (love your nick), and Logix:

Just to be clear. You cant PM and use codes instore as well. I PM'd in Curry's at £1169 with comets deal because the currys price a few days ago was £1299 making my deal on the NX713 £995 after VAT back including a 5 yr warranty. If I were making this deal today, what i might be inclined to do is to take a print out of comets deal into a Currys and ask for a PM including the PS3 bundle. Otherwise, buying online using codes and quidco gives you the 40nx713, with blu ray player, 5 3d movies and a transmitter for £944!

To me thats a better deal than i had just a few days ago!

Money Nuts if you've got staff discount, youre very very lucky. Unless it excludes staff from participating in the VAT back offer, i dont see any reason why you couldnt.

Happy Hunting!

Sorry, was just looking at the potential to get it for £699. If you can't use the codes for store collection, and you can't price match and have delivered online, then you can't get this for £699.... or am I missing something?

Thats such a stupid comment.

Everydeal with more than one item could say "buy this for only 1p"

Simply buy the 2 items, sell the second item for x amount and then you have only paid 1p!
#34
Monkey nuts- correct, title revised accordingly.

Online £944. Best price online for this tv package you can get or show me somewhere cheaper please.

Even if you sell the blu ray player and movies, keeping the glasses, youd still save £150 ish. This is what I'll be doing after the novelty value wears off ( about a week . Ive already got a PS3.

Edited By: smiler594 on Nov 30, 2010 19:37: Monkey nuts is right.

The blu-ray and PS3 are free gifts and not a bundle. You are paying for the TV. Bundles are if you paid one price for a TV,stand etc and they are unable to tell what you paid for each part or you could buy a £500 TV and £1000 stand and try to claim the VAT on £1500.
#36
Peeping Bernal, aha! I get it, so as free gifts if the receipt says the price of the tv including free gifts, you get the VAT back on the price stated. Thankyou.
#37
does anyone know the difference between watching a bluray on the S470 or a PS3? Is there any significant difference ?

Thanks
#38
Best way to do this is to order from Comet, use quidco get 30gbp (as its 3% on ex.VAT price). and 175 gbp from VAT back.
So get it down to 970 gbp including PS3. If you don't have a ps3, I highly doubt that you would want to sell it...
but if you do have a ps3 then eBay it, I have seen many ads of ppl selling it for 250, so after Paypal, ebay fees you should hopefully have a little more than 200 gbp. bringing cost down to 770 gbp. for a 40 inch 3D TV from Sony, I think thats a great price.
A lot of hassle but a deal nonetheless.

other than using a remote on a blue-ray player and the ps3 controler on the ps3(unless you but the optional remote for it) I don't see why there should be any difference.

really tempted but mum saying not till I find a job(might be 27 but living with parents(for free, not paying for room or food) so have to follow their rules) :(

fowler, i fully expect even this deal to get hotter as we approach xmas! The VAT back deal expires on 24th december, so make sure if youre gonna do it, do it before then. Otherwise you remember when the moneyback off samsungs LED's expired recently, all the samsungs seem to have shot up in price by £100 to £200.

RE - S470 - Some hifi magazines have said there is a difference. But the world they live in and we live in might be a bit different. I just wondered if anyone here had experience of using the s470 and the PS3 and what they might prefer and why?

Hope you get your deal sorted!
