Reminds me of websites from '97 / '98 era.

same company thats doing the debenhams deal, i picked this deal up in bristol sony centre yesterday:thumbsup:
#6
Not a bad price seing that Sony centre is usually ridiculously overpriced...
#7
Is this deal just at the few sonex sony centres listed in the link or in the main sony centres which have branches all over? No one near me in the link, but there is a sony centre in Norwich.

The norwich one is doing it, that's where my parents got theres.

Going to have a look this afternoon if it's the newer blu-ray player

Just for those who are interested. Sony Centres have nothing to to with Sony, apart from the fact that they sell Sony Gear.

People always assume that you will be getting that extra service as its part of Sony. In fact, they are totally independent, and no more related to Sony than Dixon's.

Having said that, its still a great deal.

isn't this the same as the SC one posted already that had the 5 blu rays free, but kept going anyway when that expired on 15th aug, but you could still get this deal. I also managed to get a "£50" hdmi cable thrown in when "threatened" to go to another sony centre.

Hmmm...i'm collecting the TV from this deal later and the Blu Ray player is on order - might just mention this to them as i'd obviously prefer the later model player

be interested to know how you got on. I bought one last week. I've got the TV but the blu ray was out of stock. Have phoned but they say they won't upgrade the 300 I bought to the 350

let me know. I got mine from Norwich and they won't upgrade to a 350. Guess I could always threaten to take the TV back and buy the system again? What rights would I have if I bought the TV 7 days ago?

Went for the previous deal (with the Sony BDPS300) last weekend at the Trafford Centre. The player was out of stock, and they said it'd take 4 weeks to get them back in stock.

Unless the BDPS350 has some great features, I'd prefer the BDPS300. From experience, newer Sony models have reduced production costs (and build quality) to make the products more affordable.

Impressed with the TV though. However, it's got an optical out connector, although I've got a feeling it only sends stereo (not 5.1 surround).
#15
The Coventry Sony Centre aren't giving you a five year warrenty, only 12 months; but for the same price?!?
#16
just phoned a few centres. non will say categorically that you would get a 350 although they are struggling to source 300's. It was almost a hint that you may get a 350. The offer is only for the 300.

see you point about build quality. The 300 looks a far more substantial device although the more up to date spec of the 350 is desirable.

I saw this deal in Lakeside Sony Centre yesterday and it was £799. Do you reckon they'd push the price down if I asked them?
#18
AFAIK the 699 deal is with the BDPS300. Seems some lucky ones might have got the 350
#19
It's possible to compare the two versions on the US web site... http://www.sonystyle.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/CategoryDisplay?catalogId=10551&storeId=10151&langId=-1&categoryId=27898

Not much difference - The 350 is just a skinny version of the 300.

That was what I did in Windors. Just mentioned it was only £699 in Debenhams and they offered to match it. Got the 300 player though, since this was last week.

Anyone that has or is getting the S300 probably best to update the firmware on it to get the best out of it:

This is £799 in Swansea with a one year warranty! What a con!

Anyone know if this is £699 for the 5yr warranty and upraded player in Cribbs Causeway!?

Also - assume this can be combined with the Amex 5% discount code (+ 5% cashback as I am in the promotional period) makes this £630!!!

Well up for that!

But does anyone know!?
#23
Cribbs had 2 left earlier- not sure about the warranty though. The chap did say however that it was with the 300 player not the 350.

Just in case anyone is interested, comet are doing the same deal but with a 12month warranty (3.5% Quidco) and with the 350 player. Just getting a new credit card to pay for it with now :)
#24
talking to guy in bristol where i got my kdl40v300 and 300 blu ray, that the only difference beteen the 350 and the 300 is the ethernet port, but he said all newer 300's will come with same firmware as the 350

plus this only avail at sony centres run by Sonex

Deal is £799 in Preston and Leeds stores not £699?

Thats quite right, if it did 5.1, no one would bother paying for high end sony av amps. :)

Yeah, TVs tend to only output in stereo, even if they have optical out, because of course the TV itself is stereo (having only 2 speakers), so it outputs its own sound instead of acting as a pass-through for whatever devices you've connecting. It's really, really inconvenient when you're assembling a setup, because it would make sense to connect your Xbox 360, PS3, DVD player, Sky box, whatever else all up to the TV, then the TV to your sound system, so you've only got one cable going into your sound system that deals with everything, but it just doesn't work like that, sadly. But like Chris said, it's to make you spend more on audio equipment.

Voted hot - now if only I had £700 spare :-(

I assumed that if you have for example a PS3 connected to your TV using HDMI, then when that input is selected, the TV will output DTS or 5.1 (or 7.1) through it's optical out port. Obviously you'll still need an amp to decode the signal, but I doubt Sony would include an optical out port and only send a stereo signal through it.

However, correct me if I'm wrong!

Just ordered my deal from the Mansfield Sony store today - this is an excellent deal. Heat and rep added
There are 6 people already on the order list for the local store as they are out of stock. They are hoping for delivery to the store in 1-2 weeks that will include mine!

From experience and the other posts on this thread, I'd say your wrong. You'd need to plug the PS3 into the AV receiver using a HDMI cable, and then another HDMI cable from the AV to the TV.
