Sony 40w2000 1080p Display £1,070.00 Delivered!

This it the best 1080p LCD TV you can buy and this price it's a true bargain. I had bought myself a Pioneer 427XD plasma couple of months ago and it's does everything superbly but if i was going for a new TV Sony 40w2000 would be the one that I would have bought. Truely SUPERB with PS3, DVD and blu-ray HD (not so great with over the air BC or digital). Especially sports (footy) suffers from blocking.

Ues: AW50JULY for £50 discount [Thanks Bookie for the pointer in the forum]

This TV has some major issues. I'd suggest a search on avforums before looking at buying.

How the hell kids can afford £1000 tv sets to play games on is beyond me...

Well if it has I haven't found any of them on mine!

Superb TV well worth that cash, in fact I would still happilly pay the £1386 I spent on mine five months ago.

It also allows for a full 1080p signal through the VGA port for using the xbox360 on which is one of the reasons I bought it.

this is definitely not the best Sony TV even
#13
wasnt this what tv/hifi best lcd of 2006?

best is the sony x series.

to add 5yrs free insurance at JL is not really free..

John Lewis mark up their price by £250-400 compared to net prices.

best buy from empire direct who offer 3 yrs free for £20 ( club membership) and telly for like under £1150

Indeed.

That happens with panels. Not everyone gets the faulty ones or they'd never sell any.

I had two faulty Sharp 42XD1Es before I took it back and got a refund. Many people were happy with theirs. It appears to be about luck. In the shop I viewed, the Sharp was better for PQ than the Sony and £400 less.

There are many folks over on avforums that reported a significant fault with this Sony panel. Just thought I'd share with others.

Mine has been fantastic too and I paid 1500 last year with a price match off the itnernet for a highstreet retailer to claim my 5yr guarantee. Coupled to a sony 860 upscalling player the picture is better than both samdungs and panasonic plasmas I have seen

Yeah you are right. I did actually do the test recommened on a few websites to make sure my panel didn't have the clouding issue reported.

best is the sony x series.

I did plenty of research on this before purchasing. The X series actually uses the exact same panel as the W but has some extra processing on Standard Definition sources which most people recommend you turn off anyway. HD wise they will produce and almost identical picture. The X series does look nicer though, but I personally didn't think it warranted the extra price it commands. Its also worth noting that the X will not produce a full 1080P signal through VGA like the W.
