Don't understand why this is being voted cold. Ok it's not an Ultra HD, but it will be two or three year until they fall near these prices. Expect someone will point out that a LG Ultra HD was at this price, but the refresh rate and quality it way behind this. As far as I know this is 400mhz which is great for gaming. If I didn't have last years model I would be going for this.

Maybe due to no one being able to buy it at this price for a week.

just bought a KDL42W706 at £399 (not yet opened so can be returned) - I reckon this would be a better buy?? Any thoughts? Not fussed about 3D so is it a better 2D TV overall?

there are many discussion in av forums about which tv to get, either the KDL42W706 or KDL42W829BBU comparing them and from what i have read the 3d on the 8 series kind of knocks of the picture quality a tad when viewing normal content ie hd/sd content, so if your not bothered about 3d then i would defo get the KDL42W706 especially if you like gaming and watching blu rays :) just purchased the KDL42W706 myself from richer sounds for £430 with a 5 year warranty which isnt a bad price in my eyes, plus it isn't active 3d either which sucks

Also as it's passive you can't even get much for the glasses, which is what some 3D dislikers have done with the 50" and 55" version.

BTW the 50" version of this is fantastic.

thanks - that helps (especially my laziness to google it!! (_;) ). Got the W706 from JL with 5 year warranty by getting themn to price match Coop electricals - Think I'll stick with this - cheers :)

Good set for the price, most retailers of these were giving away a free soundbar worth £80 and charging £535 for the set last month. The sound is pretty good the speakers are mounted at the bottom of the unit facing the surface you put the TV on.

Can't find the TV on the site at any price.
#9
Don't you have to add VAT to Costco prices?

3d on this is amazing as it's a VA panel with passive 3d. I'd fully recommend anyone buying this at that price!
#13
passive 3d will never be as detailed compared to active 3d which is full resolution 3d, passive is like actives little brother
#14
just been in only had the 50" in for £729 average price now I believe. unless the 42" was online only.
#15

In the warehouse only starts Monday for four weeks. I get payed on the 15th so going down Leeds to snap one up, they had the W7 model a while back at this price nearly bought that one, glad i bided my time, still got my Toshiba REGZA 32" from Costco hope it would give up the ghost but still going strong //// :|

Heat Added: Best price with 5 year GTee. However, remember that you need the Costco members card that will cost you £30 for an individual membership so £450 total but you can still benefit from future Costco savings at no further cost.

The Costco money back guarantee is based on you using their concierge system when if it goes bang after the first 90 day no quibble swap period out has timed out. They select a local service provider / repair centre to fix it or condemn it before offering cash back.

My Panny 50" went bang after 16 months so they had my local Panny approved repair shop pick it up only to tell me after a week that they wouldn't repair it. Only PSU blown ( I checked first ) . I suspect they swapped out any bad PCB's they had on the shelf into mine and told Panasonic warranty that it was beyond economical repair. I've changed SU boards in a previous Panasonics with exactly the same issue ( 7 red LED flashes ) for less than £50 and 2 hours of my time.

2013 was IPS by LG manufacturer and is much worse for many reasons. 2014's is an AU panel. Don't know how to tell what model is what year.

With 5 year warranty.
Might be of interest...looks like a highly rated TV, rarely discounted to this price. Promoted in the latest offers booklet, offer live from 12/1 ends 1/02

Hi there not meaning to question your integrity but is this definitely available from tomorrow and would you happen to know if it is the 2014 model. I have been looking for a deal on this for weeks. thank you
#26
It is instore only from today. I have the leaflet also.... Very good deal, in fact I might even buy one tomorrow if my Wife persuades me to buy it (She saw it, liked it and is trying to convince me to buy it...) Frankly, I'm shocked, usually it's the over way round X)

Hi.
I saw the set today when I was in Costco but didn't realise posters were asking about the model year so didn't check. Sounds like a no brainer if it's the 2014 model and you need a really nice TV. Unfortunately I'm not quite in the market yet for a new set so didn't buy it. It's strange though, looking in Costco at TV's..if it's not 55" or more it looks quite small! They even had a 90" set!

If you're not a member of Costco - you have to factor in the annual Costco sub (£30) before you buy it AND another £30 if it breaks after your sub expires - since you have to be a member of Costco at the time of any warranty claim.

If you know anyone who is a member borrow the card, loads of people borrow mine and i pay my subs every year ,, a couple of pizzas at pizza hut is £20. For gods sake use it for bulk buys half a dozen times a year and it pays for itself or get a few of mates and club together!! Costco deals always get cold because of the membership :(

I've got this TV and it's great for the money. Argos were selling it for about £450 when I bought it in November.

I've got this TV and it's great for the money. Argos sell it for about £450 but I dare say you could go to Appollo 2000 and ask them to pricematch Costco.
Argos sell this exact tv for £499 unless you have some unknown discount

You clearly do not know much about quality of picture, voting a tv cold because other tvs have the same functions do not mean they are on the same level of playing field. But fair enough

I'm no longer a Costco member but have just made a warranty claim and now have authorisation to return the TV for refund. I haven't taken it back yet but thus far no one has said I must rejoin.

When I renewed my annual membership last year, I asked the member of staff regarding membership at the time of a claim and was told that I did not have to be a member. It would be nice to get it in writing though.
