Since Sony launched their VAT back offer I had to take a look at the best option to get their flagship (excluding the new 3D sets) 60" Bravia model and I found that Amazon were selling the set for £2173 prior to the reclaim of VAT (£323.64) which makes the set £1849 in total.

I found this set last posted on HKUD here http://www.hotukdeals.com/deals/sony-60in-full-hd-freeview-100hz-lc/674316 and I the cheapest this set seems to be available currently seems to be around £23-2400 prior to the VAT back so I thought I would post this Amazon deal up to see if it helps anyone looking for a monolith set!!!!!

Not voting either way.

For those who voted cold you seriously need to check the price of this set else where! Infact I will tell you now that this is selling for £2799.00 at both Sony Centre and John Lewis or £2499 at Sound & Vision.

Plus you can claim VAT back from Sony which is a cashback deal with Sony and not the retailers.

£2173.74 / 1.175 = £1849.99 Defo best price online but no 5 year warranty.

This will help anyone with any of the 'cheaper' (_;) deals on the VAT back http://www.johnlewis.com/jl_assets/flash/sonyvat.swf

At this price would have liked 3D, so as has been stated above, not gonna vote either way, because the saving over the RRP and other retailers especially with the VAT back offer is hot, but the lack of 3D at this price range is disappointing!

3d is'nt as good as you may think, i know 7'll poeple who have 3d, each have good make tv's and it's a really stupid feeling wearing the glasses, 3d with the glasses is a gimmick, i'll wait untill the real 3d tv without the glasses becomes a hit

I tried the different variations of 3d tv in my local Harvey Normans, and while I agree the stock standard 3d isn't as good as maybe a cinema experienced 3d film, the active 3d glasses version is awesome, especially on a film that has been already designed with 3d in mind, I was watching a snippet of Final Destination 3d(couldn't show too much as the passing kids would have nightmares), and it looked great, as I said not as good as digital 3d, but who has a spare £60k for a fully digital 3d cinema in the front room of the house!! LoL All I was saying is that at this price, I would have expected 3d, especially when you can get a 50" Samsung Panel with 3d for £750(ish) less. Granted its not 60", but still just an example of what is out there.
