I don't often post deals, as most of you guys & girls are so often on the ball I get beaten to it!

Anyway I recently ordered one of these, and having had a thorough search I cannot find them cheaper anywhere else from a reputable online seller while guaranteeing they are genuine.

Yes you can get them cheaper, like ebay etc, but they are almost 99% fake, and formatted to incorrect spec, NOT magicgate supported, or you end up with a card that has corrupted data and cannot reach the advertised capacity.

This seems to the cheapest and from a decent company/supplier. I stand corrected of course.

Hope this is of use to someone! :-)

Good Find fella. Voted Hot. I agree with what you said about flee-bay.

Thanks. I did a lot of research into spotting the difference between fakes and genuine memory sticks. It's amazing how good the fakes are but there are telltale signs. I'm sure the fakes may work ok for some, but at least with the genuine, they come with a something like a Sony 5 Year Warranty, so you have some comeback if it dies after a month!

£55 jebus , Sony cards are very expensive compared to Sd cards arent they
#4
Normally for MSPD
1GB = £8-9
2GB = £15
4GB = £30
8GB = £60

anything higher than that are expensive

I thought the PSP was limited to reading 4GB, you can buy an sd adapted for the PSP for under £20 from play asia which will allow you to use standard sd cards
#6
Any firmware over the 2.8 upgrade (i think) allows 8GB mrken

Bought one myself just after Christmas...they were £50 I think, and are perfect

While not interested in buying, I just wanted to say, well done for posting!. It is true that some unrespectful, iddle, good for nothing people, will just enter to bully offers of any kind, but i think it is good you still share :) Good for you! :thumbsup:

I think from now on, those who bully in these forums, should learn 3 words to say back to people that post offers... THANKS FOR BOTHERING!

Good day to everyone!

The 2GB model was posted a day or two ago, so it's only fair to point out that they also have a sensible price (£28.99) on the 4GB model, which I found to be the sweet spot (about the price of a game seems reasonable enough to me...) - they also do the (faster) Sandisk stick at 4GB for £27.99, but don't seem to have a Sandisk equivalent at 8GB.

Link would be appreciated. Have had a look on Play-Asia but couldn't see anything - would the adapter be limited to 4gb & is it SDHC compatible cos those cards are much cheaper?

you are better getting a 8gb m2 memory card which comes with a duo adapter from mobymemory for 47 pounds. this works in a psp and the m2 memory works in more mobile phones i.e. more future proof

from the site:

Read/write: 10MB/sec read, 3MB/sec write.

10mb a second is very slow compared to the 15mb/sec of the sandisk MSPD cards, which for psp means lag in games (especially with CSO's).

To those recommending using MicroSD cards, then these speedtests using one will certainly put you off:

read : 8.4003 MiB/sec (Blocksize 1024.0k)
write : 8.2398 MiB/sec (Blocksize 1024.0k)
read : 7.6099 MiB/sec (Blocksize 32.0k)
write : 7.8688 MiB/sec (Blocksize 32.0k)
read : 2.9870 MiB/sec (Blocksize 2.0k)
write : 1.1278 MiB/sec (Blocksize 2.0k)
read : 1.0234 MiB/sec (Blocksize 0.5k)
write : 0.2397 MiB/sec (Blocksize 0.5k)
PI: 375

Thats using a Class 6 MicroSDHC card.

I'll stick with a couple of 4gb sandisk cards until the 8gb get a bit faster.

true but m2 are a bit more future proof (by this i mean most new sony-ericsson phones use M2 and possibly the rumored sony psp phone).. and to be honest there is no noticeable lag..

anyways 16gb duo are coming this month but they are sooo expensive - cost more than the price i paid for my psp!

I can certainly notice lag in a card that can only manage 10mb/sec - it's the reason I replaced my sony card with sandisk.

Future proof isn't really an issue, if you buy a mem card for the psp it's unlikely you'll care about if it will work in other devices in the future - it will always work in the psp.

At least it will bring the price of the 8gb cards down, by which time sandisk should be making a nice fast model. everyone wins.. ;>

Its a good price for an 8gb card but you can get 4gb cards for £20 so its a no brainer really...

Just putting 3.9 firmware on my psp now...

most newer sony ericsson phones use the m2 card. so yes i would care.

I got one of these and it worksok on my PSP, but, a bit on the slow size.

Also be aware the max memory they recommend is 2GB

I just picked up a 4gb official Sony Magicgate card off ebay from a reputable UK based seller. £23 by recorded delivery or £20 without I think.

It was in proper retail packaging with hologramms, sd card adpater and 5 year warranty. Came with a vat recepit. I have had the same card from him before. Ebay is full of fakes and rip off merchants but there are still good deals if you are careful.

Just finished off filling it up now :)

With reference to my deal I just though I would post this. It's a very interesting article with photos and tells you the differences between spotting fake and genuine MS Pro Duo Cards.

It is not my guide, but one I found on Ebay while researching. One of the best ways to check a genuine magicgate card is to check it in the psp. If it says MagicGate: Supported then it is almost certainly genuine inside.

Hope this helps someone. Again, it's not my guide so credit to the person who did write it.
