This camera is a little on the big side but the results are amazing. I can highly recommend this camera, especially at this price.

Hot.

It's a DSLR. They tend not to be compact. Bargain at this price.
#5
It's cheaper than the A290 and is a vastly superior camera. Well done Dixons. Shame they don't have the A580 at a similar discount.
#6
gah.. Have been looking at these since before christmas. Would prefer the 580 but this might have to do! Will have to sell my A100 or A380 though!
#7
Great camera for the price

If I did not already have the A450 I would go for this.
#9
Ordered... Thanks, was looking at getting one from the State, but this ll have to do.
#10
Strange I have not yet gotten a confirmation Email, ve checked the spam folder as well.
#11
This is silly money for a camera of its' quality. 12.3 MP is easily enough for most peoples' uses and you can pick up decent Minolta lenses 2nd hand very cheaply. Absolutely perfect beginners camera. Don't even need to think about it.
#12
Many thanks,great price!
#13
I’m totally new to DSLR, I have no experience. Would this camera be ideal? Will it be cheap to get additional lenses?
#14
Great price and dont forget Quidco!
#15
hot price!

can I justify £300 on something I want but will probably rarely use. Decisions, decisions!

@Omer this camera should suit the needs of a beginner, plus as domislice said you can get cheap minolta lenses second hand.

It's the right size for me (I have an a450) as I have quite big hands and the little ones are too fiddly, fairly easy to get decent glass for them too and some old accessories work too like a few of the hotshoe flashes and remote shutter switches
#21
I've just got a confirmation mail but I ordered via Currys though (and thru quidco). Ordered 10 mins ago.

I'm looking to buy my first DSLR - something around this price suits my budget. What would be the best DSLR for me to get as a complete camera noob around this price?
#23
Nice camera, it's a hot deal and I am So tempted!
#24
good price ! any working discount code would be nice.
#25
I had a A500 before upgrading to the (older) A700 semi pro model, in many ways the A500 is better and for £300 money it's probably the best DSLR going
#26
out of stock now..and still no email..quidco has tracked though.
#27
Ordered Mine Couple of Hours ago and still no Email...printed confirmation page though...

This would be perfect. Do some reading on Aperture Priority and Shutter Priority. These are the two main modes that most people use. Getting your head around these settings will get you most of the way.
#29
Seems to have expired. Got order confirmation, but not quidco tracking yet. Hope they deliver!

I got the A290 Twin Lens kit that has the 18-55 and the 55-200mm lens for £349.99 at best buy, what advantages does the A500 have over the A290 other than the obvious one of live view, is the A500 Live view on a tilt or pull out screen, live view on a fixed screen seems pointless......
