Brilliant! I've just been searching for a DVDRW for the oldies,

Amazon seem to take between 2-5 weeks to deliver most of theirs at the moment, so this is ideal.

It's too late to cancel my order for the 5260s now :(

They'll only use it to burn their holiday footage to DVD, so the 5260s should suffice!

think the slower you burn video the better, less errors. so no big deal.

Man that's a shame, I wish I saw this post first, I can't even cancel my order, I only order like 10 minutes ago and they are already showing the order as being packed. Seriously makes me wonder if they are just messing with me or have the most effecient dispatch department in the country.

Having read a few reviews on 24x burners I have come across the term " the drive can overspeed CERTAIN 16x DVD+-r discs" .. the key word here being 'CERTAIN' ... can anyone advise on best or worst discs to use at 24x.

Kinda tempted to get one of these purely so I can eliminate the final IDE ribbon cable from my i7 rig :P

None really burn at 8x the difference between 8x and 24x [time wise] does not justify the degradation in write quality performance and the importance of data integrity and longevity V's initial time saved in burn time.

If you have to use 16x to write @ 24x DVD-R Verbatim, Taiyo Yuden.... TYG03 -- MCC 03RG20

DVD+R MCC-004 --- YUDEN000-T03-00

I've had two Optiarc drives die on me - personally I'm sticking with other brands. YMMV.
