a bit steep for a dock and speakers, even if they are wireless!

The best price i can find for this, other places are asking in excess of £200

2wRMS is very poor.

That maybe the case, but still a bit much for a 2W set up.......

Why do Sony make loads of IPod docks but produce virtually nothing for their own Walkmans?

Thats exactly why i've changed to iPod. Which is a shame as my walkman was mint.

Anyhoo I was gonna post this up as a deal, but from a different retailer.
I bought one from PCWorld at Lakeside today for £129.97. This was their last one, but the giant Currys two doors down had the same price and at least one left.
This is one of those .97 deals so end of line and store specific. Probably easier to pay £20 more and get it from EBAY DOTD, than messing around as its still a massive saving on the original £300 price tag.

Have it all set up and very impressed. Dock in the lounge connected to Surround sound, and a speaker in the bedroom and kitchen.

One more note, it also has video out so you can watch video's on your ipod on the TV, if your ipod has a video out feature.

I agree, and wonder what the hell Sony are playing at, they clearly produce the best sounding DAPs on the market, and yet puzzlingly oversaturate with different confusing series of players and offer little in the way of accessories.

Take the wonderful X Series for example, they have puzzlingly deleted this series now, their flagship DAP with touchscreen, WiFi, 32GB and a 3" OLED display and now just have a flagship in the A Series with 16GB a 2.7" OLED display and no touchscreen or WiFi!

Very odd, sooner have my Sony DAP than iPod accessories any day though, sound quality vs 3rd party accessories.

I think it's 4w x 2 i.e. 8w. Even so, it's OK for listening to the radio, but very low for music. Even 40w is not that loud, if you like it LOUD! And then, you have to consider base-quality as well - other things as well, but then i'd have to bore you with technical details.

It's a lot of cash for losing two pieces of wire, as others have said.

I've had my NWZ-A818 for a while and love it, especially the sound quality. I use a set of Logitech X230's which work a treat. Sony could sell plenty of Walkman docks if they made them though.

To be fair there would be a lot of wire to get a speaker in my bedroom, and one in my kitchen set up when the base is in my lounge.
Plus you'd need some kind of remote control extender to compete with the fact you can control the ipod from the speaker sets.

That's what I had, the NWZ-A818 (well I am selling it), now have the NWZ-X1060, you cannot beat the sound quality of Sony DAPs for sure.

I just do not get Sony's marketing.
