If you have a Sony Alpha Digital SLR this lens is excellent for taking portraits and in low light situations due to its large aperture compared to the standard kit lens.

I have been looking to buy one of these for a while and most places they are about £150. Sony have started a promotion 'Get the VAT Back' where if you buy this lens before the 24th December you can send off your receipt and get a rebate equivalent to the VAT.

£119.99 + £4.99 Delivery (-£17.87 Cashback)
I have listed it at £124.98 as that is the total up front payment required including delivery as I think is the correct way for hotukdeals rules.

or buy a used minolta AF50 1.7 from ebay for around £50-£80
there's a one there now on buy-it-now for £75 + £5.50 postage (returns accepted)

I thought about the Minolta route but I decided this is the better option for a number of reasons.

1. Brand new with warranty vs taking the risk with used.
2. This model has curved leaves giving a much nicer bokeh than the minolta.
3. Has 5 pin sony connection that gives the camera more information for better focus and exposure.

I hear what you are saying, but check out reviews minolta
and sony

1. minolta = really well made
2. bokeh is v.good on minolta too
3. the minolta has 5 pin, the sony has 8 pin

It looks good for the price, thanks. I've ordered one but they are now saying it's out of stock...here's hoping it comes through.
