Looks a decent bargain for what you get; elsewhere the cheapest I can find the camera without the bits thrown in is £440 and the kit is selling for up to £550. The Sony DT18-55 mm f3.5-5.6 lens is also selling for between £140 and £175 elsewhere.

This 10.2 Effective megapixel model comes supplied with the Sony DT18-55 mm f3.5-5.6 lens.

Great price for a DSLR with this lens. Not sure if this is better than Nikon etc, am thinking of upgrading to a full DSLR am using an S8000fd at the moment. Is this a good stepup anyone:?

It depends what you are looking for. If you want to cover the same range as your S8000fd, you would have to spend about £1500. You will get better enlargements (over 10x8) from a DSLR and camera response for action photography is better.

Most people would probably have a DSLR plus a smaller backup, like your S8000fd when you don't want to carry all your heavy gear. So, when you get your DSLR, hold onto your S8000fd for those occasions.
Thanks pet2000, have never had anything to do with full blown DSLR's, i do a lot of landscape/wildlife photography and am realy impressed with the results from the S8000, guess i will stay with it for a while longer.
