A little more expensive? My 5D is about £1200 more and then my 16-35mm L lens is £1200 new. Not everyone can afford that type of camera (neither could I to be honest).

Plus the Canon does everything, including scratching my nuts.... so not ideal for the fairer sex!

for entry -> advanced entry level DSLRs sony and pentax offer far better value IMHO, once you get into the semi pro and pro end stuff then there's a much stronger case for nikon & canon

you can get a pentax kx with kit lens for around the same money as this (park cameras), which i would say is a better option

You're just a Canon/Nikon fan boy. The above statement isn't factual.

You could get an Sony A850 + 24-70mm for under £2k. Too bad so sad. I've gone from an A300 to A580, now just waiting for to see the replacement for the A900 to see if I go FF.

Anyone care to suggest if this is worth an upgrade from the A200? Thanks.

too small a jump IMHO

you're better off with one of the A5xx bodies or a 2nd hand A700

I have an A200 and the only upgrade I have considered is for the A55 D-SLT. The A5xx and A7xx look good as well though.

Try it instore before you buy, the EVF might not be your cup of tea, i found the screen tearing (when you're panning) a bit too off putting and prefer a traditional OVF... but that said plenty of people are happy with it

Thanks for the replies.

It all points to saving my cash I think.

However, I'd imagine I could get £200 ish for the A200, and I *need* a tripod...

So is it really not worth circa £100 upgrade for live preview, increased pixels from 10-14.9, and a 70mm lens over my existing 50mm?

I do like to upgrade my gadgets and get a decent resell to save a larger shell-out where possible. Is that the sound of justification? ;o)
