Warning note - Item 30 - Play.com Terms & Conditions.

All electrical products are covered by a twelve month manufacturer's warranty. If your product develops a fault while under warranty, please contact Play.com and we will advise you where to send it for repair. It is a "return to base" warranty therefore there will be a delivery charge to return the product back to the relevant UK service centre.

Many other retailers have a policy to offer repair / replacement of items under the 12 month guarantee (including return postage) and therefore offer a better service.

I see that you've been posting this in every electrical item post for Play.com.

It reads pretty self explanatory, but at the same time seems a little unlikely. Most often the retailer passes you to the manufacturer and the manufacturer handles things in their way. Play.com is big, but I don't think it's big enough to organise contracts on all electronics they buy not to include return postage/collection and therefore acquire the goods at a discounted price. Logging/differentiating the serial numbers at the manufacturers end so they ring up as Play.com - make the customer post at own cost - would be costly and not worth the hassle on less expensive items.

Have you experienced this situation first hand with Play.com?

Good deal, about £20 cheaper than the next cheapest offer. Shame it's play.com though as I had to stop using them after I had my account hijacked by a fraudster and they ordered a whole bunch of stuff last month :(

If they didn't store CC Details on the website I would consider using them again and probably purchase this deal. voted hot

If you order through the site I think you will find that Play.com have already helped themselves to the £50 cash back! NOTE (Includes £50 Cashback Offer) mentioned on order/payment page. Mod please amend title. Thanks. Would of had one myself if it wasn't for this.

Please correct me if I am wrong.

I can't prove you are wrong but I think you are. The specifications section tells you how to claim the cashback which it surely wouldn't do if Play was trying to claim it back first.

They've included a link to the form you fill out to get your cashback.

You fill out the form, send it off with your receipt and guarantee card. Sony send it all back with a cheque for £50.
