This deal is trumped by http://www.hotukdeals.com/item/578043/sony-bdp-s360-blu-player-with-3-mov? all ends up. 1 year longer warranty plus the high possibility of getting the 3 films.

May be trumpted, but it is still a deal in its own right. still hot.
#3

as you said in your own words.....immediately after the m&s post...
'This seems like a hit or miss to me. Since it doesn't say that it comes with the films, M&S might not do this with all orders. Still, could be worth chancing on. I'll heat it up. =)'

so no guarantee of getting the m&s one with the 3 films....makes this Play post very hot indeed!!

great player anyway.bargain.

1 year longer warranty

manufacturers warranty should be 2 years, unless you know the goods are faulty when purchased

"The seller is liable to the consumer for any lack of conformity which exists when the goods are delivered to the consumer and which becomes apparent within a period of two years unless, at the moment of conclusion of the contract of sale, the consumer knew or could not reasonably be unaware of the lack of conformity."

http://europa.eu/legislation_summaries/consumers/protection_of_consumers/l32022_en.htm

given you may have to argue with the manufacturer as they will generally try and get out of this (although sony were very good when my K750i mobile broke 18months after having it)

genuinely great for your dad - and anyone else that gets the 3 films from m&s. but there is still no guarantee that you will get them.
also, if you don't want the 3 films, or the hassle of selling them, then this Play deal is excellent. in fact, they both are excellent, in their own rights. it shouldn't be a question of 'trumpeting' another deal. it's about HOT deals, not THE best deal. BOTH voted hot! Horses for courses!

I ordered this one last week, when it was £94.99. It doesn't come with the three films. It's just the player. Excellent one at that. Very impressed with it. Went out and brought some new BR's to enjoy yesterday. Only took a couple days to arrive as well.

amazon are charging £95 atm, hopefully they might pricematch.
#17
The downside of this player is needing a long cable to get internet connection for the extra features on some bluerays. :?

Does this play multiregion DVD????

I've got the BDP-S350 which didn't play multi-region DVDs out of the box, but can be hacked with an All-In-One remote. I understand the 360 is the same.

It's just a shame that play are charging £45 more for the 3 blu-ray disks that Sony have thrown in for free.

No. This is a 1080p Bluray player, not a 260 divx player

I have the samsung and have a 1tb drive go through mine, and can set up you own play lists aswell mkv it play aswell and youtube, startup time is very quick aswell, 2 usb ports so just bung the drive in the back :)

It's multi region aswell for blu ray and dvd, to do blu ray use another firmware to another country

Just after xmas Richer Sounds were selling this bluray for £79.99. Although that offer has now expired I think there may be a better deal out there. Still not a bad price for this bluray at £89

' I think there may be a better deal out there' With respect, that's not really helpful, is it?

no chance of either on this

another tit for tat price drop from play with amazon to follow... quite wanted the 3 free movies so got from dixons for £120, before Play dropped even more, so £90 is a good deal, lets see how long this price lasts or fluctuates.

the thing with all the people asking MKV support for these Bluray players, but don't forget most current BD players on the market don't support the NTFS file system, so if people are planning to watch HD (esp 1080p) MKV rips then the file size limit is 4GB due to FAT32, very inconvenient, then obviously people giving advice to splt all the MKV files to under 4GB, but lots of hassle if you've got 100s to do, and need to do for all in the future, I prefer to keep the files as they are DLed, many 4GB+ on an NTFS external HDD, plug & play into my WDTV, and leave the Bluray player playing what it does best, Bluray discs.

people, these Bluray players are mainly designed for playing HD Bluray discs with the ability to produce nice quality HD audio & picture, anything playing from USB is a bonus, if playing MKV/media files is so important to you, more important than playing Bluray discs, then getting a proper media player, e.g. WDTV, Popcorn hour etc, are the better option for you, with much wider array of formats & file systems supported, and more likely to have future firmware updates to support more media files, whereas Sony and the other main Bluray player manufacturers will just concentrate on updating the Bluray side for their firmwares, oh & the main manufacturers will not openly release Region Free Bluray firmwares (not currently anyway), yes may be you can mess about with firmwares from other countries etc, but it's a risk though.

You don't even need a programmable remote. I made my Sony BDSP-360 play multi-region DVDs using an old XDA II's infra red beam and a copy of Noviiremote.

No, just wonder what's the point in buying a 1080 disc player to play divx files in resolution like 320x260 from an usb stick.

Cost you nothing aman?? Not your line rental/broadband package which no one in the UK pays for in some way or the other, plus the amount of time it takes for for you to aquire the divx files:whistling:
