The best HD image quality available.
Take full advantage of your HDTV and the detail of Blu-ray Disc video content. This Blu-ray Disc player produces over 2 million pixels per frame to produce a razor-sharp picture with unmatched depth and clarity. That's 6x better picture resolution than standard DVD.

It also plays your DVDs.
Watch Blu-ray Disc movies and breathe new life into your DVDs. With DVD upscaling you can view your existing DVDs in near-HD quality via an HDMI connection.

24p True Cinema
24p True Cinema technology lets you watch films at their intended 24 fps (frames per second) -- the way movies are shot and mastered -- so you can enjoy cinematic picture quality.

x.v.Colour output
x.v.Colour output plays AVCHD-format discs with support for the international xvYCC color standard, producing images with nearly twice as many viewable colors as the existing RGB color standard.

BRAVIA Sync
BRAVIA Sync technology lets you enjoy the convenience of one remote control to operate and control all your compatible home entertainment devices. It utilizes the HDMI CEC function to easily turn on and control your compatible HDMI-connected components without having to use multiple remote controls.

Faster loading times.
Quick Start Mode lets you begin operating your Sony Blu-ray Disc player approximately six seconds from the time it's powered on.

HD sound that Hollywood intended.
Revel in an extraordinary surround sound experience. The BDP-S360B player supports both internal decoding and bitstream output1 of enhanced audio codecs, including Dolby TrueHD and dts-HD Master Audio. These HD audio formats deliver "lossless" surround sound with 7.1 channels of discrete audio for uncompromised sound.

Xross Media Bar technology
Sony's exclusive xross media bar user interface makes it simple and intuitive to navigate television menus, controls, and user settings.

The price is now £134.99 but still a steal. Obviously with the above £5 discount, it is £129.99.

I believe some believe are confused.

Will my pay make it into my account in time? Very tempted.
(The lack of avi/divx support is the only other thing making me hesitate)

Surely avi/xvid is nearly dead now ?, I would have thought mkv would be the codec you'd want supported (no idea if this does support mkv or not)

Brilliant machine. Got the blockbuster deal yesterday with the additional night at the museum 2. The above deal is definitely much better. £130. Bah humbug.

Oh well. Can't be bothered returning it just to save that little bit of money.

Brilliant machine.

The Panasonic model is a very similar quality machine. I'd choose based on which disks I wanted free rather than a pony review from What Hi Fi. Having bought a number of their award winners in the past and subsequently tested against the competition I stopped buying or listening to their magazine. Alternative is to wait till decent media center / dvd systems are commonplace. When Panasonic or Sony start doing Blu-Ray players that play MKV over Wireless N for about £100 then you are talking :)

Give it a year. The price reflects the old days - dvd players. I remember buying a multiregion dvd player - toshiba for £120. Then......prices fell to £30 in a matter of 2 years.

Forgot to say, richer sounds sell the multi-region version of this for £139.95. However, it is multiregion for dvd films only.

I have my samsung, some people moan about it but that was when there was some bugs they are sorted out now.

It plays avi/xvid plus mkv and mp4 aswel and youtube and can be hacked to play multi region and blu ray. It can be made wireless aswell (I don't bother as it next to my comp) can also stick a ext hd in the 2 usb sockets I have put upto a 1tb in and works fine, can also make your own play lists to play what you want on the drives. :)
#15
nice price - but just a little caveat in case someone wasn't aware before buying:

if you have an older amp/receiver without HDMI inputs, then you won't be able to decode the new HD sound formats (Dolby TrueHD and DTS MA) with this blu ray player. You will only get a "downmixed" normal DD or DTS signal via optical or coax.

However, if your older amp has 5.1/7.1 analog audio inputs (multi channel in) and you buy a blu ray player with 7.1 analog multi channel output (eg: Sony BDP-S550), then the player will do the decoding of these new formats and send the decoded signal to your older amp.

Obviously, these players cost more, but it could save you having to upgrade your amp.

what is the model number of your samsung machine?

Great player for a great price - just ordered (v.v.v.nearly went for this at ~ £132 from Amazon with NO free Blu Rays yesterday). Does anyone know if the free Blu Rays are in the box or is it via redemption? Also does it come with a HDMI cable or will I need to buy one?

Many thanks to the O.P. Heat & rep on the way!

how much better (if at all) is this over the BDP-S350? I picked up a S350 for my parents at the weekend for similar money.

Are we talking significant improvements in load up times etc etc??

The BDP - S350 when i tested it seemed pretty good to me.
#23
Will this decode dts-ma and truehd and output it as 7.1 lpcm over hdmi?
#24
Do either the Samsung or the LG players act as a true media center? What I want is to access the shared video folders on my Windows Server and run the MKV files from there.

What a hottie !!
job done for FIL

Plus quidco...
#33

I would pay the extra and get this player as well, .mkv off DVD-r's and USB (4GB limit on usb as its FAT32) is worth much more then 6 quid (plus the youtubes for the youngsters) I have this player and highly recommend it.

Has anyone else had theirs arrive yet?

Mine came on Friday but no sign of the 3 free blu rays - should they have been in the box or do play send them out separately? There are no redemption forms or similar either.

The packaging from play was shocking, they had just stuck the sony box in a plastic bag with no extra padding / packaging - idiots!

I haven't ordered this, undecided as to get it or wait a while for even cheaper deals, but this post has put me off ordering it now a bit!

The Play product description clearly states that the films are "in the box" so I'd get in touch with them if I were you

Same blu ray player is now £94 ( with the £5 off voucher ) no films with it xxx

one sec will find the link x

EDIT, wow! well it WAS in the monday madness but it's now saying "Please Note The Deal of the Day offer has now Sold Out."

Guess they only sell a few of these at this price!

mine apparently has arrived but is stuck at the Home network depot as I could not send it to my work address, the depot is 20 miles away from my work, I finish at 5pm and it closes at 6pm. trying to do 20 miles of rush hour traffic in Birmingham is near impossible during the week. Will have to wait till Saturday to pick it up!!

Not happy.
