And more heat, thats a bloody good deal for an award winning Blu Ray with 3 movies, two good ones as well.
#5
.. Also available at Comet and DSG. That said i would much prefer to purchase from Tesco for there aftersales service.
#6
Better to get the pack with free Blu ray disks. I sold Slumdog at CEX for £6 cash
#7
Saw this player yesterday at Tesco in Cambridge - but it was £129 rather than £99, Dunno if this means it's store-specific?
#8
can anybody else confirm that this is nationwide i.e. scanned in at the till for £99.95? (Tesco Direct website still showing £129.97) bit worried it may be store specific price...

Award winning from Sony sponsored What HIFI?

No eject button on the (cheap feeling) remote, slow load times (twice as slow as the similar priced LG BD360/370) and no media playback from the (poorly located) USB port.

Not a bad deal if you like immensely overrated movies though.

Mmm why do you need an eject button on the remote as you still have to get up and take the disc out? I have this player got it from AskDirect for £114.99 and have no problems with the load times since I altered in the menu about starting up.

The LG BD360 is only profile 1.1, is an eject button really a bind not having it on the remote control, particularly seeing you need your own physical presence to be within an arms reach of the drive tray in order to place a disk in it, or for that matter remove it :?
#12
yeah, really don't understand why people are so upset about no eject button, you still need to physically get up and go over to the player to change discs! eject button won't help you change the disc you know.

already got 2 PS3s, 1 RA 1 RB, so need a RB player in the living room, & this fits the bill.

oh dear-it doesn't make tea either.:w00t:

great deal if you want cracking hi def pictures tho!

especially with the 3 freebies. absolute bargain.

hot.

I've just rang Tesco and according to the person that I spoke to the machine alone is £99.95 but if you want it with the 3 films is £130.
#15
stop buying these and they will get cheaper :whistling:

That's the kind of reply I'd expect from an OAP. Watching movies on discs is slow and clunky enough already without having to stand around waiting for a tray to eject.

The LG BD360 is 2.0 and has support for YouTube, DivX and H264/MKV amongst others. Not to mention the fact it's a lot more aesthetically pleasing as well as being of better build quality. If you're in the market for a budget player I'd go for that.

Not making tea is slightly off target in comparison with a basic remote feature that's been around since the 80s.

lol if you want a proper h264/mkv/HD media file playing capabilities you buy a Media player e.g. WDTV or Popcorn hour etc, Bluray disc player are designed to be first & foremost play Bluray discs, which incidentally give better PQ & AQ, Dolby TrueHD DTS HD etc sound, compared to DLed files.

do the LG even read NTFS file system from external drives? if not then you're stuck with file smaller than 4GB on FAT32, which is not very useful for HD files.

can anybody confirm this having been to the store? did the OP get mixed up with the price for the solo player & the one with 3 movies?
#19
I'd be interested to hear if the LG BD360 can read NTFS i.e. over 4 gig files.

I use XBMC for all of my HTPCs. PCH and WDTV don't compare. But that's off-topic.

The point I was making is that there's a player with an identical price point with similar performance, better build quality, nicer appearance, more features and lastly .. *gasp* .. an open/close button for the tray.

need some more people to confirm this deal, preferably with photos taken instore. Really want the player + 3 blurays for £99.95 but the replies in this thread so far say this deal isn't nationwide.

I shall put off voting until i know if this deal is legit or not.

I have to disagree, the LG looks very ugly in comparison to the Sony, whats with that ugly round thing in the middle of it lol . . . . :-D

not true, its £130 at their stores.
#25
I saw it on Sunday in Tesco Dunfermline although there was only one box with the free disks on the shelf (all the others were without the Blu Rays).

The shelf label was £99.95 although I didn't try and buy it so can't confirm what it scanned at.

However, I'm pretty sure it did say on the box that the disks were free so I can't see how they could charge an extra £30 for that pack.

From AVF:

"Was in Tesco (Broughton Nr Chester) on New Years day and they had the BDPS360 for sale at £99.99, plus the pack with Slum Dog, Terminator Salv and A&D's on sale for £129.99. The issue I had was that the bundled offer was labelled as 3 Free Blu-Ray discs. Took both boxes to customer services to point out that this was a misrepresentation as they weren't free at all!! As it was an extra £30 for the 3 discs! They wouldn't accept the argument and said they had no control over the labelling or the pricing which came from head office!"

For anyone wanting to find out if their local store has this in stock ring 0800505555 & select option 1.
When I rang them the guy looked on the system & told me he could see 2 items with the BDP-S360 product code, 1 priced £99.95, the other priced at £129.95. Cheaper one did NOT mention 3 films where the more expensive one did.

I then rang Currys to try my look and see if they would price match Tesco and after putting me on hold for a couple of minutes they guy came back and told me exactly what Tesco had told me.
#28
So the 3 free films are £30? lol :-D

It would appear that way. Play and Richer Sounds are both doing the same thing. One price on it's own and another price with the supposed free disks.

And where can you get the all singing, all dancing LG BD360 from for £99.99 ?

sense of humour by pass?

that really affects the picture quality...having to get up off one's fat **** and spend an extra 2 calories pressing the eject button.not to mention waiting the agonising few extra seconds for the tray to eject.

silly me.let's all diss this bargain on a few petty points.how silly i was thinking this was excellent value for money and on a like for like basis, you can't beat it.

Doh!

Mr No fails to realise that there is more to a Blu Ray Player than its features, there are plenty of high end Audio/Video equipment that offer less in the way of features but offer quality Audio and Video DACS instead.

If Mr No can find the all singing all dancing LG BD360 for the same price as this player, and demonstrate that it offers the same or better levels of video and sound performance, then he may have something.
#33
bloody hell, brought it for £130 yesterday as it was birthday present.. don't believe this could be nationwide, but never know. Might of been by acciedent as they are selling the normal one for £99.95, so might of been just a mix up

If that's the case, why even have a remote at all. I thought it was ease of use, features, quality and performance, not how well it doubles up as an exercise apparatus (which is irrelevant as the point was about time spent waiting, not how far you have to walk or how many buttons you have to press).

Nobody is "dissing" anything, it was better alternative in the same price range, especially given the fact the deal is mislabelled and the package with the three "free" movies is an additional £30.

As you would say, "doh!".

So the 3 free films are £30? lol :-D

yeah LOL indeed, "free" films by paying £30 more :x

anyways took the chance to get down to my local, nothing on shelves not even pricing lable, told the lady to check on her system, only 1 product coming up on their system as Sony bdps360, and it's the one with 3 movies, BUT the price showing IS £129.97, same as the Tesco Direct online price.

So it seems either the OP got lucky that his local where they mixed up the £129 bundle for the £99 solo player, or the OP/his brother looked at the wrong lable...
#36
Can anyone who has been fortunate enough to get this deal, from any of the various places that have done it in recent weeks, please tell me if it does state on the box that the 3 films are FREE ?
#37
Hi the box doesn't state the films are free just included. I got mine from www.askdirect.co.uk. They however do state the films are free. I paid £114.99 for the player with the films and was happy to do so after the hassle with the boxing day orders. I am very happy with this player including its slow start up time of 6 seconds and the no eject button on the remote lol
#38
It's all about the Panasonic DBP-60.
#39
Dixons have these as well, but they have increased the price yet again.

it was £109.99 to start of with, but almost every day, they have been increasing the price, and now its £129.99

i've sent them an email saying they are just as bad as con artists by keep increasing the price, so they can cash in on these free blu-rays.
#40
Previous post correct, £99.95 for machine only, or £130 with the 3 films...... Still bought the machine even better with my mums 10% staff discount
