Upcoming Blockbuster deal seems better - but this is the best out there at the moment

Not voted either way :)

aye you'd be a fool not to go for the Blockbuster deal, even just to cash the blu-rays back in if you don't want them to get it cheaper.

all the blockbuster deals are online now for those who are interested - http://www.blockbuster.co.uk/subgenre/blu_ray_players/movie_players_dvds-page-0.htm

Anybody know if this has a USB port? And if it does will it play .mkv files like the Samsung BD-P1600 will?

No. I don't think it does.

Ah, disapointing, I've seen a pic which shows it has a USB port on the back, really fancied this deal as well especially after the What HI FI review

I'm sure it's a great player. I've got the BDP S550 myself. But all specs say it doesn't play divx, so forget mkv.
#14
Oh yes it does

Checkout page 23 of the manual ...

http://www.sony.co.uk/product/blu-ray-disc-player/bdp-s360/tab/technicalspecs#pageType=manual

Also google "BDP-S360 USB port" and you'll see confirmation after various reviews.

It also plays DivX per the What-Hi review (page 40 of September issue)

I haven't got Adobe so cant open the manual, but can anyone confirm whether this will play Divx or .mkv?

Otherwise I will go for the sexy Samsung!

Am I being extremely thick or is page 23 about sticking in a memory stick so you can download bluray bonus material? No mention of divx etc.
Also isn't the review on the website the same as in the mag? No mention on the website. In fact it says no divx in the specs there.

There is a usb port on the rear, but from a review I have seen its for when you go online, to save bonus material i.e. you tube downloaded content etc

Think I will play it safe and go with the Sammy, cheers for the help "normal", have some rep
