This deal has been around for a good few weeks now at this price with the 3 films, I got it from Play a couple of weeks back, so the addition of the extra film for nothing makes this a very good deal (regardless of how bad that extra film is!).

Already posted when it was a pre-order

This deal looks good or you can get the Panasonic DMPBD60 - 7 Free Movies http://www.hotukdeals.com/item/559406/panasonic-dmpbd60-7-free-movies-129
for the same price, and this player is meant to be almost the same picture quality.

It was £20 more expensive then, though.

I've got this Bluray player and its excellent.
You can do a simple hack with a One For All remote to make it DVD region free as well.

7 free movies are no more - promotion was cut short on 18th December as Panasonic ran out of stocks of the Blu-ray discs... http://www.panasonic.co.uk/html/en_GB/Products/Blu-ray+Recorders+6+Players/Overview/Blu-ray+Offer+-+7+Gift+copy+Blu-ray+MOVIES/2950540/index.html

First i went and bought this One For All remote in Argos....

http://www.argos.co.uk/static/Product/partNumber/5356209/c_1/1%7Ccategory_root%7CHome+entertainment+and+sat+nav%7C14419512/c_2/3%7C15701169%7CTelevision+and+audio+accessories%7C14419521/c_3/4%7Ccat_14419521%7CTelevision+and+audio+remote+controls%7C14419538.htm

Then follow these instructions exactly how they are listed.....

http://www.videohelp.com/dvdhacks/sony-bdp-s360/10264

I then took the remote back to Argos and got my money back on the 16 day return policy.
It works a treat.

Do you get the £20 rental vouchers if you order this online?
#12
Not sure, sorry.

I don't yet have an LCD tv, but am hoping to get one in the near future. Can I link this player to my phillips widescreen tv? Do I have to use HDMI cable or can I use a scart lead for now? Thanks:)
#14
superfi are doing this player for £119 with 3 films - depends whether that extra film is worth £10.
#15
The superfi one is multiregion (for DVD) as well so something else to consider..
#16
i think there's a cheaper one on here somewhere

Checking the technical specifications of the Blu-Ray on the Sony Website, the answer is NO there is no scart connector.

http://www.sony.co.uk/product/blu-ray-disc-player/bdp-s360#pageType=TechnicalSpecs

To check whether your philips is capable of high definition picture depends on the resolution of the CRT tube, it is possible to output the signal to the television but whether it was capable to run at this level is another matter. Most CRT televisions (A few were available) were not capable of running a picture resolution above 640x480 (CRT Monitors could), the problem is the format used by high definition of either 1024x768( Plasma HD ready), 1366x768 (LCD HD ready) and 1920x1080 dpi . My advice is check the manufacturers website for further information about the television and if you are searching for advice on your next television try avforums or a number of magazines available on the subject.

As televisions is not a subject I know much about, there are people on here and avforums who could provide a more detailed and accurate detail on your requirements and questions.

The superfi one is showing at £149 , or am i missing something?

Hot deal - Some decent high def films with it too (I'm one of the few who liked Terminator Salvation ;-) )

But if I buy this I will essentially make my PS3 completely redundant!

As nemesiz says there's no Scart socket, however every Blu-Ray player has a composite output (yellow plug) which you can connect to any TV.

This can tide you over until you get a new TV

I bought this when it was on the £149 offer in November, in store with the 20 rental vouchers. I was happy with my purchase (I have several OFA remotes so I programmed one to make the DVD Region 0). Anyone getting this for £129.99 will be very happy!
#24
Apparently richer sounds are going to be selling this player for £79 starting boxing day, not sure if you get any free films with it though...
#25
Bought mine at argos for 129.99 w/£10 gift card (free) after being told they had sold out at richersounds.

...The only problem is, there is nothing i can buy fro £10 at argos. Their prices are absurd!

Brilliant stuff - just carried out the hack and all seems fine. Just have to take the remote back to Argos now. :-D Thanks for the heads up.

I wonder if this hack still works if you update your player's software/firmware via updates? I have just bought one and I am worried about this. Can anyone confirm this for me? Thanks! :)

I did this a couple of days ago - applied the software hack to make the machine DVD multi-region and then carried out a firmware update over the web. Good news - I've just tried one of my region 1 DVDs on the player and it works fine. Have not tried any other regions but I think you're pretty safe to assume that they'll be fine.

I know that there are companies out there that actually supply you with remotes just to carry out this hack - some you buy directly others you effectively hire and return. Costs anywhere from £10 upwards. I just used a one-for-all remote from Argos and followed the instructions here. You can of course get the player made mulit-region for blu-ray but since that's a hardware mod. it'll cost you a lot more and not worth it IMO.

Thanks for clearing this up for me and others! :-D

I know that it is only possible to make blu ray multi region by hardware modification but like you said, it's not worth it and I'll rather not risk my 3 year warranty. As long as I can watch different regions DVDs on my machine, I'm happy. The machine will upscale the DVDs to 1080i anyway.
Applied the hack and it works! Yay! I just have to update the firmware via LAN now. I bought the remote from Argos now will return it next week for a refund. ;-)

Rep added!

I bought one yesterday from my local Blockbuster and as well as the free films it also came with £20 of free rentals.

****PLEASE NOTE THIS**** I GOT THE REMOTE HACK TO WORK BY DISREGARDING THE LINE WHICH SAYS" IF YOUR ONEFORALL REMOTE USES 4 DIGIT OR 3 DIGIT CODES, USE LESS LEADING ZEROS" - YOU DO HAVE TO ENTER ALL DIGITS - INCLUDING THE 2 LEADING 00'S FOR IT TO WORK!!:)
