Popped into my local Blockbuster (Irvine) this afternoon for a look. They had a poster up advertising the Sony BDP-S360 model Blu Ray player along with 4 discs-: Night at the Museum 2, Slumdog Millionaire, Terminator Salvation and Angels and Demons for £149.99. There was a mention on the poster of £20 rental vouchers too, but when I called to confirm the deal the assistant said it was just the 4 discs included. Even so it seemed like a good deal to me.

Edit-: Confirmed it's Online as well as instore. Link to the right should be a direct link.

I think that I will be tempted to go for this, as I want to buy a couple of the films, so works out as a cheap blu-ray player.
Many thanks.

Is it the 360 or the 360B?

Anyone know the difference?

360B is on Amazon ... http://www.amazon.co.uk/Sony-BDPS360B-Profile-Blu-ray-Player/dp/B0027FFX4O

This seems a good deal with the bundled movies - Night at the Museum 2 isn't so bad - my little one loved it at the cinema

Not sure, sorry. Wasn't specific on the poster. Maybe call your local store if you're interested and you need to check. BTW, think the "B" is for the Multi-region version.

Region B is the Blu Ray equivalent of Region 2 for DVD.

If it's like the BDP-S350 which I imagine it will be it won't be multi-region out the box, not for blu ray and the same applies for DVDs, although with the BDP-S350 I did get myself a One4All remote control from Argos which after entering a code let me unlock it for multi-region dvd playback only. Not sure, but I don't think there are any region free for Blu Ray yet, unless you get it chipped.

On some players what you do is download a different firmware instead of the update that pop up on the player, this is for other countrys but will work on region b players :)

That's what I did and it was so easy to do.

Hi,

Apologies - my brain cells are dying after having had a few beers tonight.

So basically this player can be made multi-region blue ray with a few clicks of the remote?
#14
No, they're talking about MR for DVD only.

I don't think that MR for BR is available yet on any player other than a chinese model which was widely talked about in the States called Momitsu http://www.dvdbeaver.com/film/hardwarereviews/momitsu_bdp-899.htm

You can however get hardware mods for BR MR but they are quite expensive....
#15
Wait Blu-Rays aren't multi-region? (something I probably should have realised if I had just thought about it).

Well there goes my plans for importing Up.

Thanks for the info everyone :) Voted hot too.
#16
Quite alot are region free but UP is not.

List of region free and locked blu ray's here
#17
Just organised the return of mine from Amazon and have gone for this instead

It's going to cost me 'upto £2.75' but still well worth it in my opinion.

Also the original post states instore only - it's not - says free delivery :)

Also on the MR front for DVDs I read that the same hack for previous S350/550 models also works with this one.

I posted the link earlier but it hasn't appeared yet, go to the blockbuster website and search for Sony, the offer is there to preorder.

This is a total guess, but I'd say the price will prob come down after Christmas. That's how it usually goes for big electricals.

They are asking for a £20 deposit and told me that they are only buying enough for pre-orders (sale is from 21st Nov) - told them I would check back in a couple of weeks - not worth pre-ordering yet as better deal likely to appear.

But this is still hot :)

When I click on the link the poster appears to show what is the BDP S350. Anyone sure it's the 360?

Only the fact that the title on Blockbuster says 360 and the picture says 360 so all evidence points that way... So I assume that's what it is.
#31
Definately the 360 - I called into Blockbusters last night and the guy in there showed me a sheet with the tech spec, etc.

Info: they are currently selling the 350 with no discs for £120, and they have an LG player including 3 disks (Gladiator is the only one I can recall) for £150 - but the 360 is due in around the 21st Nov
#32
Just had a look at Quidco - you may get 8% for "BB Electronics/Own Brand" if it tracks against a pre-order on the interweb rather than buying instore.

So £150 - £12 = £138 ... absolute bargin

Ok I have gone through the link you posted and seen this deal but went through the Internet browser the normal way navigating to blockbuster.co.uk but cannot find any mention of this deal! What did you type in the search bar etc???

4 Blurays are Terminator Salvation, Night at the Museum 2, Angels and Demons and Slumdog Millionaire

Got to Blockbusters this evening looking forward to picking up my new toy and was told by the chap behind the counter, "Sorry sir there's a problem. The player is here but there are only three blu-ray discs in the package. Night in the Museum 2 doesn't seem to have been included." He acknowledged the massive poster behind him with the offer for the player and the four movies. He said that he could not give me the missing one from his own stock. He said that I would have to speak to the manager in the morning.

The sales chap said that I could either take the Sony there and then and hope the manager would give me the missing movie the next time I went in or wait and speak to the manager.

I looked at the box for the Sony and it is prepackaged and there are only three movies displayed. . on the outer sleeve. Night at the Museum 2 is missing I asked if I could open the box and see if the movie was in there but told I could not.

I'll give till the morning and see what the manager says.

Has anyone else had this problem?

What are the chances of Blockbusters trying to worm out of this deal?
