I very much doubt it. These sell well at the £120 and are very well specced. Hope I'm wrong, but at £100 it's a very good buy. Not many players below £100 that are as well thought of as this.

Just missed out last week, and bought the Toshiba BDX2100 for my parents instead. Just cancelled it, and bought this one instead, Thanks OP, wouldn't have spotted it otherwise.

Bought, so nearly bought at 119 last week. thanks.

Great unit bought a month ago form argos at 100.00 and also received 20.00 in vouchers.

Dont bother with this model as it has no wifi, best bet is the BDP-S570
New Blu-ray Disc™ player with 3D™ Disc playback and built-in Wi-Fi-n, as it's features are fantastic. Keep an eye on amazon as they have deals on the Sony range quite often. I Paid £140 for this model.
#7
Only works with a "Sony" usb dongle (which pokes out the front, nice!), cost £60!

Hi,

I'm torn now, Do I go for this device or the Sony Media player, ie N100.

Obviously this has the BD drive, where as the N100 does not.

http://www.play.com/Electronics/Electronics/4-/17467873/Sony-SMP-N100-Internet-TV-DLNA-Media-Sharing-Network-Media-Player/Product.html?searchstring=sony+n100&searchtype=allproducts&searchsource=0&urlrefer=search

Is there anything else I shuld take into account?
#9
Agreed, that would be better if you need wifi, as only the sony one works with it. However, my parents will be able to have it near the hub, so ethernet cable will be used anyway.

What about the VAT back on Sony products?

personally, i just bought the 570. however, it's horses for courses really tho, isn' it? some people may prefer just ethernet or, perhaps, homeplugs....
and 3d? well, if you don't have, or don't plan to get, a 3d tv, it ain't going to be much use.
otherwise, the 2 models do the same things.

forgot to say-i went for the 570 at amazon for £175. with vat back from sony, it's approx. £149.
there's no vat back with the 370. £99 is just good, in its own right, for the 370!
#13
i have the bd360 and an onkyo one at £79.95 lol
#14
Thx OP searched over weekend and best price was £120, £100 will do me ;-)
#15
Wow that's Bizarre, was just searching for the best price, did my own look around and then came to HotUKDeals and here was the best price for the exact item i want :)

Happy Christmas :)
#16
good price, comes around quite regularly
#17
How does it compare feature-wise to the media capabilities of the PS3? Does it do a few things more than the PS3? (this being itself a dedicated unit etc.)

Last year's BDP360 was reduced from £100 to £80 at richersounds and other places dropped it to £90, this has happened each year for years.

It worked with my 16gb sandisk and there is a usb in the back aswell. I brought for £120 from Costco with 5 year warranty :)

Biggest problem with that is that Richer carry very very little stock. Never managed to get a deal in there yet. For the extra £10 I'll have it now, seeming it's way below the list price

It's refering to the wifi dongle, not the USB memory stick

What's the point of wifi anyway? Not enough bandwidth for decent hi-definition video.....

This player does not appear to be part of the Sony VAT back scheme but the BDP-S470 and BDP-S570 are. That's a bit annoying!

A word of caution - when you come to set the player up on the internet, you can select a menu to enable advanced features. When you do so it will log itself into a Sony site and register itself. It will give you a 4-character activation code which you then need if you wish to register on the Sony Essentials site. Have paper and pen ready to write the code down. Once it has logged itself with Sony's site, that activation code will disappear - forever! There is no way of recalling that code or resetting it once the player has been logged in!

my advice is to wait for boxing day sale unless you're giving this as a gift to someone else. Think you will get a free bluray atleast in the next sale even if it is the same price
#34
gone up to £119.99 now :(

still 99 on amazon.but be quick if you want it.

Back up on Amazon to £119 as well, that didn't take long.

Procrastinated too long about this today, but by the looks of things it'll drop again next week.
Given the lack of postal deliveries due to weather it doesn't bother me too much anyway.

I wish people would expire deals when they've finished (_;)
