One of the best Budget Blu Ray players. Excellent deal.

Fantastic machine..... use mine all the time for media playback via USB and Streaming. Also iPlayer, Five on demand and love film (and a load of other stuff too)! Think ITV and 4OD may be in the pipeline. Oh yeah it can also play them fancy blu-ray disks :)

I have this player and it is fantastic for the money, Just needs ITV and 4OD on it to make it complete.
They have been conming for a while now but still no sign of the extra channels yet.
#7
Stopped buying Sony dvd-writers etc years ago because they were so riddled with protecting copyright this and that. Same with Toshiba. Wonder if this is any better ?
#8
I bought one last week from Amazon at same price, with all the online content that's available it's superb value for money IMHO. It plays media via the USB port and from your DLNA supported media server too.

Oddly the PS3 has ITV and this player doesn't. This has Five, but the PS3 doesn't.
I just need 4OD without having to connect the Macbook. :)

Superb player, I have a couple. Media player interface is excellent.
#11
Excellent player, only thing I don't like is that it is quite noisy.

No way didn't know the PS3 had ITV... may have to dust it off when I get back home :)

I notice it says "wireless LAN ready".
Does this mean you can simply add a spare wireless USB dongle into the USB port for connectivity to you're wireless router?
#14
Very good player, but the wireless adaptor to access BBCi player etc is almost as expensive as the player (think it's about £70 and only the official one will do) - so you need either a wired connection or fork out an extra £70 or be able to do some fancy stuff with wireless bridges - still good deal though
#15
"Hard Disc Drive Yes"

errr ... No, it doesn't have a hard disc drive!

Not a bad price, mind you, for £30 more you could go for the 3D ready version the BDP-S470B, which is what I did!

Doesn't stream .MKV via the NAS option either, only via USB attached devices.

Thanks - that's a shame.

If the router isnt near the telly, I guess you could get a cheapy wireless access point with an ethernet port - that should come in way cheaper than £70.

Homeplug's would be another solution & no wires (and usually no setup configuration required for the less tech savy). Ive got a few of them lying around so I woudl probably use this solution if I bought this.

Great price, it's a great player

It's a very recent thing, last week I think. That's what's great about these Sony XMB systems, new things just keep appearing. :)

Really?? :-0 Today just keeps on getting better and better :)

Great price & reviews. Much better than my Philips BDP3000.
#24
Looking to get a Blue-Ray player soon, the extra cost of the dongle is off putting slightly.

Any confirmers that the cheapo dongle works?

Thanks
#25
I have this player networked with homeplugs and the On-Demand TV stuff works a treat. I've barely played a blu-ray on it as it does so much!

The PS3 has 4OD as well

Odd..It didn't when I looked last night and there wasn't an upgrade available??
I wanted to watch Peep show.
It seems it should be there - http://techngadgets.co.uk/itv-and-channel-4-on-demand-comes-to-ps3.html

(off topic) If you (like me) do not have an icon for 4od on the PS3 you can visit this link in the browser:
http://ps3.channel4.com/

It's an issue which has been noted in this thread

Just picked this up from Tesco in Leyland they had plenty left.

Seems good however I've tried 3 dongles none of which work, I'm now trying via cable and still not having any luck, if anyone has any tutorials or can offer advice, it would be much welcome
#29
Don't worry about 4OD. Channel 4 put all their programs up on youtube. This thing will play youtube just fine. So there is no need for them to develop 4OD software.

The USB ports only suport FAT32 file systems, make sure your dongles are formmated with this and not NTFS.

I bought the BDP-S360 a couple of months ago and it is crap - it was so crap i gave it away to my mother-in-law!
Eject only works manually (no eject button on remote), DVD playback is terrible (picture is OK but most home made DVDs keep freezing whereas they all work smoothly in my cheap Pacific DVD player from Asda which i got for £20 about 5 years ago). Forward/Rewind is also slow and it takes ages navigating from one chapter to the next. I have since got a Samgung BD5500 and it is superb.

Hopefully, this newer model (BDP-S370) has overcome the problems of its predecessor

The BDP-360 sounds nothing like this player. The 370 does everything, and has everything your previous player didn't have! Inc. an eject button on the remote.

i think he means wireless dongle.

I'm using a wireless bridge on my, works fine but you have to enter the settings yourself as it doesn't like to pick them up, could just be my kit.

Got mine from below for £99.99 delivered with a free HDMI cable however gone up in price slightly to £108.99, worth it if you need a HDMI cable and cant be arsed to go to tesco!

http://www.cheapelectricals.co.uk/acatalog/Sony_BDPS370_HD_1080p_Blu-ray_player_bdp-s370.html

Also has options for region free (£9.99) and Sony wifi dongle (£64.99)

It's an excellent player - plenty available in Tesco Wembley Extra this morning.
