Product Information
The Sony BDPS560 takes Blu-ray connectivity to the next level by offering built-in wireless connection to your home network.

Like most modern Blu-ray players, the BDPS560 offers BD-Live technology which enables you to connect to your home network system and utilise particular Internet websites which give you additional film information. Whilst this is now common place, wireless connection isn't - especially at this price! Before, you had to connect the Blu-ray player by an Ethernet cable or purchase an optional wireless module. With the Sony BD-PS560 this is no longer necessary. What's more, the BDPS560 is compatible with protected set-ups (WPS) and also allows for other information to be streamed around your home network. For example, you can stream photos from your PC to the Blu-ray to be shown on your main TV set.

As you'd expect from the inventors of Blu-ray, the sound and picture quality are first rate. Blu-ray gives around six times more detail than DVD and will even upscale your DVDs to 1080p quality. x.v. Colour is also supported for an even more realistic image quality. The sound is similarly impressive thanks to quality Dolby TrueHD and DTS-HD decoders built-in and Sony's usual high quality transport. The transport has also been refined to give faster loading times. With the Quick Start mode you can now start operating your Blu-ray player just 6 seconds after power on. Like other Sony Blu-ray players the BD-PS560 is also extremely easy to use. The Xross Media Bar user interface makes the complex technology easy to access.

For a Blu-ray player which combines wireless networking with high standards of performance, the Sony BDPS560 makes a tempting choice.

Limited stocks available in region 2 only format, but we do have plenty of multi region stock available which the vast majority of our customers prefer. A multi region player will enable you to play DVDs (but not Blu-Ray discs) from anywhere in the world, in particular US discs that often have additional features - great to have for such a small premium.

Not bad but I'd rather get the 370 than the 560.... Much more options with the USB and extra things like iplayer, youtube, lovefilm HD etc.... Still a good price though

I like the look of this but does anyone know what the difference is between this one and the BDPS570?

Not expired. It is only £99.95 to VIP members, so if you ring and say you have had the email stating £99.95, then they will do that price. Will ask mod to unexpire

HD USB movie playback, BBC iplayer, Youtube, Lovefilm HD etc etc

Get the 370, much better features for the same price, only difference between 370 and 570 is the 570 has built in wifi... with the 370 buy a £9.99 D-link wifi dongle and then it's the same thing or just use the ethernet port....

Does the D-link wi-fi dongle work then? I thought you needed the proprietary Sony one at £70.

Hi, I have just ordered the 370, will this D-link dongle be ok , I have wi-fi from an Orange livebox, I also have an ethernet cable which I have taken downstairs and connected to a Humax Foxsat HD which receives Iplayer, is it best to just get this dongle and connect it to the 370, or can I somehow split the cable which is connected to the Humax? I would like to be able to access films on the PC upstairs and play them through the TV downstairs. Thanks

I don't think you can use any old adapter - its not a windows based device. the sony one is ridiculously over-prices, but a wireless bridge or gaming adapter (connects to the ethernet rather than the usb) will work fine. I would go with splitting the ethernet cable using a simple ethernet switch since you already have a cable there.

Thanks Blacklion, I think I will go with the switch, I was just trying to save additional cables, plugs and more boxes, I agree the Sony Dongle is ridiculously expensive, and would be interested if anyone who has a 370 has managed to use a normal and less costly dongle ?

No problem mate - but 99.9999999999999999% certain its the Sony dongle or nothing - its not a PC so you can't install prorietary drivers on it. I would also recommend avoiding wireless for streaming in general, so if you can't run another cable a switch is the way to go.
