3D is a total waste. I dont see it taking off in the home. In fact a few TVs recently slashed in price as no one really taking them up. Demand TV is the future. Waiting for that to take off. 3D cinema is ok but inthe home its a bit pointless.

Also laser TVs out soon. It does inface never end ;)

I find that 3D TV is soo much better then cinema 3D it is pretty great picture imho

I agree, 3D is a crock o' *****

We were really chuffed when HD-DVD & Blu-Ray came along as they improved picture & sound loads, now the picture is taking a good few steps backward with this 3D rubbish, even HD 3D looks poor. I predict failure.

Home 3d is new, give it a few years. Not cos of standards, just basic quality evolution in contrast, crosstalk, refresh rate, angle of view etc etc.

I don't think it will be around in a few years to be honest, I think they're flogging a dead horse already.

I read an article about true 3d, there is only 1 film out at the moment that is true blu ray 3D, and that is Monsters Inc. The plans for the next 2 years is something like 2 to 5 films. True 3D isnt really taking off, or at least wasnt in that article but it was about 6 months ago and it is progressing quickly so maybe times will change.

3D should be an enhancement to the film, not a key element or even a selling point. It's certainly tarnshing the image when films like Clash of the Titans stick 3D on at the last minute (it wasnt made for 3D at the time so they bunged it on) isn't helping. I thought Alice in Wonderland was good use of it, not too much just little bits.

What the hell are you on about.

Monsters Inc is NOT available in 3d mate, so thats fact number one wrong.

2-5 films for the next 2 years? Theres already that amount out now mate, so they are pretty much on schedule huh? Fact number 2 wrong.

I think you will find that most people who **** off 3d TV haven't even checked it out, I have a 3DTV and its a cracking piece of technology and everyone who I show some material to totally agrees.

3D pants yes at the mo

however tosh and sony are working on 3D sets without the need for glasses, then it will become hot!

Ok Ok !! Take the 3D feature away and still look at the spec, this is a superb blu ray player and surely having the built in WiFi is a major plus point ??

having wifi built in dont justify 70+ more then other models, they make it sound like they actually giving you something extra....

FFS even phones have wifi built in nowadays, total rip off, wifi big deal!!

Whats the saying of the month just now? Haters ganna hate? I find that very fitting for 3D TV. Basicly its just people on low incomes or people moaning about having to spunk more of there hard earned Dole money on new tech, dont worry about them, they are the ones missing out. I bought the 55" Samsung and everyone who comes over has to try it out, they cant help themselfs, ha ha. Everyone, and I mean everyone is blown away by it. The kids love it the most, I think the poster mean Monsters V Aliens and not Monsters Inc earlier, anyway, that Movie rocks in 3D, its funny to see the kids jumping back and reaching out at the screen. With the PS3 going full 3D next month via a patch 3D TV is really gonna be available to the masses. The TV's are coming down in price too. Its gonna take off forr sure, just slowly due to expence.

Basicly, if you can afford it go 3D, if you cant just keep saying how it will fail!

I can afford it if I want to (a panasonic 3d tv is now less than 1k for 42 inches. Will be about 600 in 6 months time). However, 3D has been around since the 80's in various guises and NEVER taken off. I watched Nightmare on elm street 3d about 20 years ago in the cinema. It was cool and was the "new big thing in cinema". Then nothing.

You are correct though - price is a big point and £14 to go to the cinema is just too much. (IMAX) or £12 @ odeon AND they make you pay for your glasses. Joke.

Also about 20% of the population cant see 3D with glasses.

20% of the population? Nothing like a complete fabrication to make a point.

But 3D was crap before, and never available at home. Have you even tried it out? Yes, the price of the TV's are coming down all the time, just like any TV that has been out for any period of time. The premium for the 3D enabling tech on them is a small percentage of the TV's price. I paid £2800 for my 55" but that was mainly for the 200mhz LED screen etc, I was told (and it may not be true) that I paid £200 for the 3D. In 2D its an amazing TV and to be honest I use that 99% of the time. Are the Glasses annoying? I cant say that they are, lets be honest, its only for an hour and a half anyway. I have started to play 3D Games too, that can strain the eye a little, but I am playing for 4-5 hours straight so that also may have something to do with it.

Honestly people, go try it out before you make your judgement call.
