"This diminutive player delivers superb picture and sound represents incredible value for money."

It might be small and cute but the Sony BDP-S350 pulls no punches when it comes to delivering first-rate picture and sound quality. The BDPS350 scores over its predecessors in offering Profile 2.0 compatibility. This can be obtained by using the built-in Ethernet port - another feature that wasn't always standard on earlier players.

As you'd expect from a new generation Blu-ray player, the BDPS350 has wide ranging compatibility - including most types of DVD discs. The v1.3 HDMI socket allows the new Sony Blu-ray to output 7.1 Channel HD audio to a suitable home cinema receiver. If you bought an early Blu-ray or HD-DVD player you'll also be pleased to hear that Sony has worked hard on start up times. It now takes just six seconds to begin enjoying your disc - previous machines would leave you enough time to make a coffee! Also improved is the graphic interface system. The new XcrossMediaBar will be familiar to Play Station 3 owners and makes for an intuitive, functional interface.

As with other BD players, the BDP-S350 is also compatible with standard DVD discs. Combined with the 1080p upsampling, this allows you to view your existing DVDs at a level of resolution higher than ever before.

Which ever way you look at it, the Sony BDP-S350 is one impressive machine. Blu-ray has come of age!

good deal if you can get a decent one
had the 350 for about 2 years now (i paid £175 with 6 free br's - that was a bargain then!!) - its an excellent br player and not had one movie it wont play.....
it only struggled with badly scratched br's from lovefilm but thats a disk not player problem (thats why i use blockbusters and not lovefilm!!)
i did also have a Sharp BDHP21 br player which was utter garbage and i sold it 1 month later

you are mixing up 2 different things - hdmi and blu ray profile are just standards/rules that manufacturers need to adhere to so that their equipment is able to communicate with each other...if they didnt it would be chaos and amusing!!

HDMI (was version 1.3, now 1.4)
hdmi is the set of standards that av manufacturers adhere to for sending digital transmissions eg across digital av equipment - currently hdmi 1.3 but soon out is hdmi 1.4 which provides 3d pictures amongst other things and ethernet via hdmi (so no seperate ethernet cable required)

http://www.hdmi.org/manufacturer/hdmi_1_4/index.aspx

BLU RAY PROFILE (version 2.0 or audio only 3.0)

blu ray profile is again a standard that the disk is in and br disk player conforms to - eg if the disk conforms to blu ray profile 2.0, a profile 1.1 player may not play it or maybe only some of the content

There's no such thing as HDMI 2.0

you guys should skip on this old bluray player, this came out donkeys years ago, the first generation took an eternity to start-up. the 360 is decent, the 370 is good. Still waiting for £100 bluray players with the functionality of the 370 with .mkv and xvid support off NTFS formatted usb pens and harddrives, think it might be a while till we see those.

The 360 was practically identical to the 350, the 370 isnt all that much faster.

Lots of free advertising for RIcher Sounds on this site when/where the chance of any of us actually getting the advertised goods is slim to none. Freezing deals and they aught not to be here as they are very VERY local and limited offers.

Don't be too negative though

You may be arrested.

Agreed! Prices will come down again and quality should improve. Tempting, good price, but i'll hold until the Sony 370 tumbles to £89.99 (hopefully with a couple of movies thrown in!) ;-)
