Got email from What Hifi re upcoming sales; including Richer Sounds. Richer sounds caption reads ; 'The Richer Sounds sale starts at 10am on Boxing Day. There are some truly fantastic bargains, including our Award-winning Sony BDP-S360 Blu-ray player for just £79.95. Don't miss it! ' Looks like this will be in store rather than online'. Can't believe I paid £150 for this late October. Fab player and if you can get hold of one for this price a real no brainer (just wish I'd waited!!!).

#18
Can you not just buy the player now from Richer Sounds and take advantage of their 7 day price promise?
#19
Will be a great deal, good luck :)
#20
Ah, maybe I should read it instead of rushing through the deals..
doh..

Hmm, this would probably go well with the Sony Bravia KDL32V4000 I got in Richer Sounds Boxing Day deal last year, for £299!

However, if you dont fancy standing outside Richer Sounds waiting for the doors to open, you could wait and see if the same happens as last year.

While I paid the extra £30 for 5 year cover at Richer sounds, a day or so later, John Lewis price matched the same set, and they include 5 years cover as standard.

So JL may price match this same Bluray player as well, as it is available on their website, currently priced at £129.95.

EDIT: JL offer free 2 year guarantee on this player

Grrr at the people who aren't happy with some stores being closed on Boxing Day - retail staff deserve some time off as well ...
#24
Richer sounds do these fantastic deals every year at Christmas and they always have the same strings attached:

1) They only have a very limited stock
2) They won't let you reserve one, its first come, first served.

It's basically a scheme to get you in their shop on Boxing day.

If you your lucky enough to bag one at this price, then its all good. Voting hot anyway :santa:
#25
Good deal...and I remember the days when almost everything was closed on boxing day!

Totally agree but they work like this all year round not just xmas, richer sounds is just 2 miles from me and have lost over 2k in potential sales from me with deals on hukd which DID NOT EXIST ,sorry sir we have no stock and no attempt to find one suggests either did the other branches

Have to agree, part of the philosophy for RS success was they stock piled high, had small retail space outlets for low ground rent and buy in bulk, particularly with past models stocks.

Nowadays, however, it seems like they just never have any stock...so I haven't a clue what their philosophy is!....a lot of deals are ex demo and stock availability poor.

There are still some bargains to be had at RS, just few and far between.

Don't blame you I managed to get a sony 40W5710 from JL for £589.99 courtesy of a price match with richer sounds and tv trade in and with the 5 year guarantee

I got that model from M&S for similar price with a 5 year warranty around the same time last year.

I've gone for the £119 (multi-region) Superfi offer ( http://www.hotukdeals.com/item/562822/sony-bdps360-blu-ray-dvd-player-mul? ) because I don't fancy standing outside freezing to death, to find that when I finally get served they only had 5 and sold them the minute they opened.

I'll be selling the films in the bundle which should bring the price down a bit more.

If you are lucky enough to get one, it's a HOT deal.

If you aren't one of the first people in the queue, your chances of getting one will be slim. IMHO.
They just want people in the store so they can sell them something more expensive.

Awesome, no point at all now in getting a PS3

I was looking at Blu ray players. I have been informed the new Blu Ray disks in next year or so will have larger data storage. (Currently 25gb sinfle sided?) Like betamax to VCR you will need a better Blu Ray player to read the larger data discs.

Anyone know much about this?

Is this really the best player? I assume it plays dvds?

PS3 was more about games. They threw on Blu ray to try to make it more mass market. Problem is they added it 2-3 years before the market was ready for Blu ray properly and at a stupid price.

Guff...Blu-rays currently are dual-layered and hold upto 50gb...my Sony 350 plays both types so this one certainly will.

..and again more guff....The blu-ray is an integral part of the machine as the PS3 discs are blu rays themselves. The PS3 was for a long time the standard used for comparison of stand alone players for it's load times etc. and only recently has it's abilities been superceded.
#36
Stunning price, But i havent seen anything better since Macro did the Sharp blu ray for £50.
#37
gutted.. shame i cba to go to the store on sale times, cus i know i will have to queue.
#38
Was going to buy this from Richer last week. £119.99 instore only. Checked stock and only a handful of their stores had any stock and then only 1 in stock each. If this is to be a deal people can get , they will either need to have stock quarantined or have ordered a load in for this deal. If not I think we will struggle ! :x
#39
Will John Lewis price match this as it will be an instore only deal?

They did last year with the Sony Bravia TV's that Richers were selling on Boxing Day, so dont see why they wouldn't this time, as long as stock lasts.

Here is the thread from MSE last year as it unfolded, includign a few posts from myself...
