Noticed this in my local tesco (llanelli). Was stocking the blu ray players and noticed that the blu ray player on its own was £129.97 and the one that came with 3 blu ray films (Angels & Demons / Slum Dog Millionaire / Terminator Salvation) in the box was only £99.97.

Slim and stylish this next generation Blu-ray Player makes Home Entertainment as close as it can be to the original theatrical experience with 1080p Full HD picture quality, 24p True Cinema and High Definition surround sound.

Can this play stuff from a USB memory stick?

It appears the USB slot is just intended for use for BD Live, so can't be used for pictures, music or movies.

whats BD live? sorry being dim

Great deal - I am waiting for the 370 to drop to the £100 mark though

My mistake, from further googling it does appear that this will play media off a USB stick.

Well, the players themselves obviously do the exact same thing, which is play blu rays. Im also not sure if the toshiba plays from a USB stick, this sony does play media form a USB stick. Sonys also have the other features such as the BD Live etc but im assuming the toshiba may also have features to match this. You do get the 12 month sub with the toshiba which is good, with this you also get 3 free blu ray films, to keep which is also good.

Im sure someone on here would do some googling and find out the exact differences, im really busy at the moment so ill have a look when i get back home later.

bd-live allows you to watch the additional content on blurays that requires an ethernet connection to the internet. Not many blurays use this, its a bit of a gimmick really.

I'd recommend the BDP-370 for £30 more, it can play back movies/music from FAT32 formatted usb drives and some other nice additions.

No you were correct with your first post. The BDP-S360 Has NO DivX support. the USB port is ONLY there for BDLive.

The BDP-S370 is the one with USB movie support.

This is a great player. I have one. Sound from my hd amp is amazing, picure is very crisp. Quick load times too compared to my brothers Sharp which takes about a minute to load a disk. Just a few seconds for the disc to load in this.
#17
can this be made multi region? I have loads of Region 1 dvds
#18
I purchased one of these from comet (with these 3 blu ray titles) for £97 back in Dec and am really happy with this player.

Need a bluray, H&R Added :p

Only through an all-in-one remote hack. The remotes can be bought off fleabay for about £12 I think. Search for s360 multi region on fleabay. It will only make dvd's multi-region though, not blu-rays.

I paid £250 for mine a year or two ago. Nice player.

Having used it the question is 'Why?' rather than 'What?'.
#23
I'd go with the newer model www.hotukdeals.com/item/672970/sony-bdps370-blu-ray-player-avatar-

100s of films to choose from (OK, you just get one but there's a big choice inc boxsets), HDMI cable and it'll hook up to your router and allow you to watch iPlayer.

And it's newer which is no bad thing for Blu-ray players.

Agreed, its ****!

has anyone else seen it at this price? I was wondering if it is nationwide or store specific. Cracking price for this review http://www.whathifi.com/Review/Sony-BDP-S360/

I bought one from HMV a month ago and am very pleased with it, however they had two boxeson display and the only difference was one was the BDPS360 and one was BDPS363, I asked what was the difference betwenn thwm and theyd id not know. I bought the 363 and it seems that this is multi regional, so cehck the boxes and the model numbers before you buy.

I got this player just after Christmas and have had no probs with it. Used BDLive twice but nothing of particular interest on it. Very good machine and this is what I paid with the discs so good price

Not sure why people bother with Blueray when DIVX is far cheaper

The 363 is (or is supposed to be -you can answer) a special edition which has a backlit remote control and errr... and eject button on the remote control. It's a model which really just appeared in Sony Centres.

If it is multiregion then it's been opened (from the bottom) but will only be multiregion DVD. A few Sony Centres do this unofficially.

As Fujioka says the 363 differs in its remote. Was supposed to be only available from Sony Centres, note I say supposed.

Well the Toshiba is also BD Live capable. I've about 10 Blu-Rays but none of them have a BD Live function. From what I hear I'm not missing much.

No doubt the Sony has a better remote, the Toshiba's is Gross. Is there anything else that makes the Sony a better machine? Faster? Better Picture or Sound? If not I'll go for the Toshiba with the LoveFilm offer.
