We have this or the model before and within 12 months it was too old to play the newest 3d releases even after updating g software

no wifi though

I use one of these on my narrow boat, as it is 12v dc, so would be good for a caravan motor home ect, make sure you use a dc to dc regulated power supply

Sony BDP-S5200 3D Smart Blu-ray and DVD Player.
was £119.99 now £59.99

The BDP-S5200 was the best budget Blu-Ray player in the 2014 WhatHifi awards http://www.whathifi.com/awards/2014/blu-ray-players

The manual for both players is at http://download.sony-europe.com/pub/manuals/tvhc/BDPSX200_4476195411_SM_EN.pdf It looks like they are the same apart from the BDP-S5200 having screen mirroring and built-in WiFi.

OK player, provided you don't want to sit anything on top of it... in which case you won't due to weird pyramid shaped top!

At the risk of incurring wrath; both Sony and Matsushita products use Toshiba chips on the most part (as does Sharp)

6 months in and have never had a problem with this tbh. Quick boot up and quiet. Good price

Unfortunately you are quite wrong. There is a deal on here, or there was last night for a 50" Panasonic TV and that is an example of a cheap TV made in Turkey (probably by Vestle) that Panasonic have just stuck their badge on. Think ever single manufacturer does it now. Long gone are the days when you could just buy a low end Sony or Panasonic and be reassured that you were still getting a quality bit of kit.

It's expired current 110 heat....see how many vote without looking. Then maybe expire it....

I always wanted a player that could double as an amusement park for ants so this is perfect really though what were they thinking with that top

Hmmm - Bought one Sony BD player, totally died on me for no logical reason (not firmware update related) with BD disc stuck inside, never got around to contacting retailer but still have time, bought another Sony BD purely for it's internet access i.e. BBC iPlayer, vTuner (which no longer is accessible) and got an Arcam for BD playback.

I expired it when the price went up. I'm not complaining though. If it gets to 200 degrees then I'll get a Heatwave badge :)

I bought the Sony BDP-S5200 recently. It's pretty crazy, when I turn my TV off the player turns on, starts playing a disc and subsequently turns the TV back on. So, I then have to power them off again; thankfully the second time they stay off.

Find the setting on your blu ray player, or if it's not there, on your TV to turn off HDMI-CEC.

Should stop this happening, not ideal though as you'll lose things like auto source switching.

The point is that I posted the deal a little after 8pm. The price was live until 11pm. The deal went hot about 5 minutes before it expired. At 11pm it was at 110 degrees, and I expired it. However, it was then still at the top of the list of hot deals if you don't have the checkbox to ignore expired deals. It then gained quite a lot more heat from people who skip read the title.

I posted the deal as it is a reasonable price, and I'm looking for a soundbar and a 3D Blu-Ray player, with reasonable performance, and without too much clutter from wires, speakers and remote control. I've got a Samsung TV, so the system in this http://www.hotukdeals.com/deals/samsung-ht-h5200-500w-2-1channel-3d-blu-ray-dvd-home-theatre-system-149-99-rgbdirect-2100088 looks the best.
